Ugh..my favorite part of Christmas..NOT!

Okay so we left our house on the 22 and found ourselves home last night. My kiddos got great stuff, however a couple of things are duplicates. Okay actually 4 items. 1 is spy gear binoculars, a 10-20 dollar toy. 1 is a board game for deal or no deal, again we have this game. Both of these are items we know came from target, but we didn't get gift receipts. My kids want more stuff, not money. But apparently without a gift receipt you cannot do anything, unless you have the cc number which it was purchased with. Both of these will be fine gifts to pass on to a friend bdays, so not a huge deal, but a pain.

However, we also got two ds video games that are duplicates. These run about 35-40 each, too much to pass on as a bday gift, and besides my kids have games they wanted. For example one son got a zelda game, but it was the wrong one. My kids were super cool about saying thanks and never letting on. So it would be too weird to call and say okay I need a gift receipt so we can exchange it. Walmart apparently only did exchanges until the 27th...huh? I know it is a pain without a receipt, but we are talking unopened, toss on the shelf, new games.

Anyway, so my hubby is out at all the major stores testing their policies...fun fun.

Did you try Wal-mart? We went out on the 28th or 29th and exchanged two things there without receipts with no problem. They gave us a giftcard in the amount of the exchanges. And one of them, the Simpsons movie, came from Kmart (who won't exchange everything).

But, yes, it is a hassle. This is the first time we ever exchanged a gift. But my mil got my son the airbrush set from Crayola that I knew he wouldn't play with. I checked the reviews and saw horrible feedback on it, so we took it back and he got a DS game that he really wanted.

Same mil also got my dd a digital camera. But it was horrible. Wouldn't focus at all and took really awful pictures. I checked online and saw it was not just our camera, that they all suck. It was a fifty dollar camera, and I refuse to waste that much money on a camera that won't work. So I asked for the receipt and took it back and got the money back to go someplace else to get a new camera. The person waiting on me said that was the third camera that morning like that one that had been returned. Go figure!

It must be an individual thing. My son returned an item to Target without a receipt. They gave him a credit to buy something else.

Ditto on individual stores. We've returned items to Walmart all throughout the year with no reciept and they've never given us any trouble. Full exchanges or credits. Hope you can do something with the games! If not, you could always sell them on ebay with free shipping. You would only lose a few dollars that way since they are unopened.

Of all places he managed to exchange them at best buy! He tried both walmart and target, who just flat out said no.

Anyway, he got the games exchanged and life is good for the kiddos.

My MIL got me a sweater at Boscovs and lost the slip so they gave me a gift card for the money but I had to show drivers Lic. for it. We had 3 things this year but 2 of them went on sale so we got maney back from them all I wanted to so was an exchange but when they rang them through they told me I had money coming back I said ok what ever.

Kaye, I'm glad he was able to exchange the games!
