Does anyone use a flat iron on their hair??
I hope I used the right name. I think it is called a flat iron. I went to a new place and got my haircut this weekend. Really, she just trimmed it. I have heavy bangs with a shoulder length blunt cut. After she dried my hair she used a flat iron (my hair is thick with just enough of a wave to be annoying) I really liked the way it looked when she got done, more updated and styled. So, I would like to get a flat iron and do my hair this way when I go out, etc. Does anyone have any experience with these. What is the best kind to use. Is there a trick to using one. Thanks for your help.
I use one from time to time. Conair makes a great one. It's wide, so it doesn't take forever to use. It's silver, but I don't know the model. They are easy to use, I just blow out my hair, run the iron through, and put on some smoothing serum. HTH!!
I use a flat iron all the time! Love it! I also use it on my girls hair occasionally. There is a really nice one that you can purchase from a salon for about $100.00. I'm really wanting to get it. But, for now, I just got mine at walmart for $20.00. It works really well. No trick to using them. I find that if I press the iron together at the iron part, rather than the handle part, that it works better and faster. My hair is a lot like yours. It has some natural curl to it. If I don't straighten it it has an annoying wave when it dries LOL
I forgot to mention, as Crystal said, that if you buy one, I would recommend the wider one over the skinny one. It is a lot faster.
I have used a flat iron for many years. I actually started using the cheaper Conair ones which I thought worked great, but in the last year, I have discovered ceramic flat irons, specifically one called the SuperStar. It works amazingly and so much better than the Conair one. I love it and recommend it to who ever is looking for a great flat iron.
Thanks everyone. I am going to get one tomorrow. I think I will stick to a cheaper one until I see if I will really use it or not. I will make sure to get a wider one.
Let us know if you like it! I think once you see the results, you will want to use it all the time!
Jules has one of those really expensive ceramic ones and her hair looks absolutely great all the time. However, after using it for months, her ends have started splitting and breaking, so be careful.
I can not use one on my hair since it is really thick. But I do use a 1.5 inch curling iron and pull it down straight. It has worked much better on my hair.
I blow dry mine with one of those round 2" metal brushes with the nylon/plastic bristles. I curl the ends under with it and straighten the rest. My hair's not that wavey, though. Just a teeny bit of kink.
