New York City
Has anyone ever stayed at a family friendly hotel in NYC? We may be heading there with DH for a business trip. How about things to do with a 4 and a 2 year old?
We are leaving this Friday for NYC. My brother lives there and we are going for a long weekend. We are staying at the Marrriot at Lexington and 57th. We picked this hotel because it is just 5 blocks from my brothers and I have Marriot rewards points I am using. My brother said it is very nice and has bigger rooms then most hotels in the city. The only thing to really watch is that lots of the hotels in NYC have tiny rooms. I will let you know how the hotel is when we get back. I am very excited since my brother will be our tour guide. He has lived there for almost 2 yrs. My boys are close in age to your children, 3-1/2 and almost 6. We will be back next Tuesday and I will definitely post on the best things that we did. Some of the things we are planning on doing are 1) The American Musuem of Natural History. They have an awesome dinosaur fossil exhibit. 2) Cenral Park - it is suppose to be in the mid 50's. Hopefully, it will be nice enough to do this 3) The Statue of Liberty. You have to take a boat to see it, so we will only do this if the weather is nice 4) the Empire State Building 5) Time Square and then my brother has some other ideas. I will post about our trip when we get back. I will also keep track of the restraunts and things that we go to. My brother doesn't have kids, but he was checking with friends and co-workers to find out the best places to go with them.
The childrens museum in Manhattan.
Thanks Debbie, definitely fill me in on any restaurants you and the kids like. We stayed at the Marriot Marquis before kids. I've been to the Natural History museum and would like to go back if we go to NYC this year-I know that is on DH's must do list. Since we've both been to the Empire State building and the Statue of Liberty before we probably won't go this trip. Have fun or your trip!
The Planetarium (attached to the Musuem of Natural History) is also worth a looksee. They have a Planetarium sky show that is great (Feona and I went there with our DS this weekend) It's been in the 30's and 40's this past week but hopefully will warm up this week. Take the subways everywhere you need to go since the Taxis can get expensive. You can buy daily passes for the Adults and the little ones are free. BTW, I work in NYC... Enjoy.

http://www.nyctourist.com/topten_4kids.htm the childrens zoo at the bronx zoo is closed right now. Opens in ????? april, I think.
This zoo is small but nice in central park. http://www.nyctourist.com/info_centralparkzoo.htm Also you can go to the metropolitan art museum after the zoo. Don't go on the week end to the art museum. Too busy. Maybe too young for visit to art museum. (mummies of egypt) with pyramids. Playground next to art museum is okay. With pyramids. You need two people to watch two kids in that playground though. Poorly desighed in terms of watching kids.
Art museum is by donation. Many people donate a dollar per person. Or more if you wish.
There is a really big toys r us at 42nd street if you get desperate for things to do.
We went here and ds like it. mars restaurant. Has aliens. http://www.nyctourist.com/topten_mars.htm
