Living to 100

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2004: Living to 100
By Mommyathome on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 - 01:06 pm:

I just took this survey online. It was kind of interesting. You feel out a lifestyle questionaire and then based on the info you entered, you are told to what age you will live. Then, at the end, it tells you what you can be doing differently to help increase your life span.

BTW, it said I will live to 77.9 years. Looks like I have some work to do!! I was hoping to make it to my 80's at least LOL.

Ok, mine said 94.6 and I was feeling like it wouldn't be that high when I was saying that I eat chocolate and candy! LOL! :)

By Melanie on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 - 01:43 pm:

92.8 for me! LOL Eve, I was sure that answer was going to get me, too. :)

Wow Colette! Whatever you are doing, keep it up! :)

By Trina~moderator on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 - 02:43 pm:

94.5 for me. Would have been higher but I haven't had my cholesterol checked in the last three years. Nor have I been tested for diabetes lately, and I'm high risk. text description

Looks like I'll be the first to go. I'll miss you all dearly LOL.
I need to eat less meat and less sweets so it says. Also, I need to be checked for diabetes and cholesterol more often. And, I need to exercise more too....the list just goes on and on!
Even though this isn't scientific it's nice to see what you can improve on. Stamping an age on your life really is a wake up call IMO.

By Ladypeacek on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 09:19 am:

i made it to 71 :(

By Kaye on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 09:49 am:

Hmmm things like this are always interesting to me. My mom died at 52, my dad's second wife died at 57. Everyone in my immediate family that is dead died of cancer. I can pretty much say that I will die of cancer and there is a good chance I will be much younger than the average. I think there are always way to stay healthier but in the end we all die and mostly it just isn't in our hands! Can you tell I am in one of those moods today?!?!

By Cat on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 10:48 am:

90.8 Women in my family tend to live a long time. Four of the five sisters in my grandmother's family lived into their 90's.

Kaye, did you take the test??? :)

By Insaneusmcwife on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 10:52 am:

73.9, but that will change because I started Weight Watchers last week and once my shoulder and elbow heal I will start working out.

By Kernkate on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 11:06 am:

82.5 for me. Hope its true!!!

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 11:30 am:

94.8 for me...........

By Kaye on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 01:05 pm:

Yep I took it, it was 89.3 i think...much higher than I expect to live!

By Pandamamaoo4 on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 01:29 pm:

85.0 for me....need to start exercising and watching the meat...have to have dsh take the test want to have him around for a LONG time also.

By Pamt on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 02:34 pm:

100.3, but I really don't want to make it that long. I'd take making it into my 80s just fine. My granmother will be 93 in September and is physically in pretty darn good shape, but she has Alzheimer's :( That's hereditary and I really don't want it.

By Yjja123 on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 03:20 pm:

94.5 for me? must be wrong? No one in my family has made it past their 70's.
Very interesting survey.

By Andyjoy on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 04:59 pm:

94.5--this may be reasonable for me, as my great-grandmother lived to 97.5!

By Andi on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 05:44 pm:

85.5 here! :)

By Carolk on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 05:54 pm:

96.3 here

By Karen~moderator on Thursday, March 11, 2004 - 08:50 am:

I have to wonder how that thing calculates the years, cuz I *know* that lots of you guys are in WAY better shape healthwise than I am!
