How did you find Momsview?

How did you find Momsview?
I'm curious. As a moderator, I review some of the applications, and people answer the question in a variety of ways. Some go into detail - they were searching on google or some other search engine for a specific topic and Momsview came up. But others say just "book" or "radio" or "TV show". And some say a friend, family member, or something else. If you found Momsview through a book or radio or TV show, what book? what radio program? what TV show? If you were searching for a specific topic, were the members able to help you? I'm really interested to see how people found Momsview ... and why you stayed. I'll start - I found MomToMom, the predecessor (sort of) of the Momsview community, searching in Google for "parenting" about 2 weeks after I got my first modem and internet service. I lurked several times and then saw a post I "just had to" respond to - not being sure of my welcome because it appeared everyone else was much younger than I and with children at home. I was warmly welcomed and have been part of this marvelous community ever since early 1998.
I think I did the same thing. I just got my first computer and the internet, and I must have searched for a parenting site. That was in the summer of 1997, I think, and I joined Mommytimes. I've been around ever since.
I found MommyTimes in 1996 when DS was 6 mos. old. Several of us left that board when it became nasty, and MomtoMom started up. Then I migrated here with the rest of the flock. Poor Feona! I always wondered how she felt when we all climbed aboard at the same time. LOL! Some of us have been cyber pals for several years now.
I was looking for a Mom's board in Jan of 2001 and did a Google search, which is how I found MomtoMom. I started reading the posts and was impressed with the civilty and respect shown on the board. It seemd like an intimate, but welcoming group, so after lurking for a few months, I posted anonymously. Hey, I was new to internet forums! LOL Anyway, I stayed and followed everyone here to Momsview.
I found momsview while searching for information on chicken pox. Something I was just curious about, not because my kids were sick. It looked interesting, so I joined. It was last summer (6-18-03). Now, I have been here through the death of my FIL and the death of my dog and your support has been helpful.
Boy, I guess I have been around since spring of 1996. A friend of mine told me about MommyTimes and I have been hooked ever since! Just followed the crowd from one board to the other!!
Way back when we lived in Montana (1995) we had Prodigy and they had member message boards at the time. My neighbor and I were both members of the "September Expecting" board (even though Randy decided to come a week early in August). When we moved to Panama the next summer we couldn't get Prodigy at the time down there so we got whatever internet we could (can't remember). Well since it wasn't Prodigy, I couldn't get to my member message board so I searched the net for another mom's board and found MommyTimes in September of 1996. After being there for a few months and watching all the drama unfold (pretty comparable to a soap opera!) I followed a few over to MomToMom. Then I followed the masses here after it shut down. So there are some here that I've know for several years now! I love my cyber-friends!
My SIL told me about Mommytimes after the birth of my first son, he is now 7 years old. I then went to Mom to Mom and then to here. I just sort of migrated with the flock also Mara
I used to go to the family fun web site, but they closed it. I went on a google search for Parenting message boards and I checked out a few and didn't like them, this was the only one I really liked.
My story sounds a lot like the others! LOL. I had done a search for mommy message boards around January '98, maybe a couple months earlier. I found Mommytimes and became hooked there when I found Trina (or I should say, she found me!) because we had met in person several years earlier. I migrated from there to Mom to Mom and then, of course, to Momsview.
I'm relatively new compared to every one else that has postd so far. I found Momsview in June of 2003. I think i was looking for a crockpot recipe. I read some of the posts and loved it here! So i signed up right away and have been addicted ever since!
I was one of the Mommytimes moms, but I didn't post too often, because it was starting to get taken over by nasty posts, etc. I was about to give up, when I found out (through searching) about Mom2Mom, which led to Momsview. I've been grateful every since!
I joined MomtoMom after Bubbels (Pam) had been talking to me about it and trying to convince me to join for about a year. I was recovering from back surgery and had a lot of time on my hands so I figured, why not? I've been hooked ever since. And as I've said MANY times, I wish I'd had access to a board like this when my kids were young!
Trina and Kay, I should just copy and paste your posts! LOL I also used to go to MommyTimes until it got nasty and I heard them talking about the goody-goodies over at Mom 2 Mom--my kind of people! Then when it closed, I came over with the herd. I love it here...love the people... never regretted the move.
I joined Mommytimes in the fall of 96 also. Just happened to come across it somehow. Followed everyone here!
I joined Mom to Mom on Mothers day of 1998 (6 years ago this May) I was watching Oprah. They had a story about women connecting through the Internet. Basically being a stay at home didn't have to be so isolating. Anyway, they mentioned Mom2Mom. And I did a search on the Internet for Mom To Mom. And came across our old site. I went in and read and decided I had nothing to loose. A few other women also joined after watching the Oprah show but I can't remember who all it was and if they are even still members. But basically it was a mix up.. They also have a board on the Oxygen network called Mom to Mom. But what a good mix up it was.. I have laughed, cried, cheered and got down right mad over these years. I have seen births, deaths, uncertainty, fears, marriages, divorces, break ups, teenage drama's, worries, and I have seen many of the teens grow into mom's themselves (Amy).. I have seen strength and compassion. I have seen a group of strangers pull together and move mountains when someone on the list was in need. Which many know about Amy. But most don't know about Kim and her special Christmas (Elvis). Or Susan and our miracle baby.. And so many more miracles that we have witnessed over the years. We have all been through and dealt with a lot of drama over the years and we have proven with a level head we can get past anything that comes up on the list. We have survived a major move and not only have we stuck together but we continue to draw in new members, amazing.. And it is so nice Welcoming in the new ladies because you know they will add in a new view to the list. We are ever growing and ever changing. And I bet Feona and her DH had no clue what in the world they were opening themselves up to...
I joined MomTOMom through a internet search for stay at home moms. Then, that week that I joined everyone moved here to Momsveiw. I took some time off for awhile because of my parents illnesses and then sadly my Fathers death though I am addicted now and don`t think I could leave for such a long time again.
I also joined mom to mom through a internet search. And then I followed everyone here And so happy I did.
I found momsview when I did a google search for a support group for military wives whose husbands were deployed in the war. This site is not at all what I had in mind. It was much much better than I could have ever hoped for. Sometimes I wonder what I did before momsview when I had a questions, needed to vent or wanted to gloat.
i found it through yahoo search looking for a message board for weight loss!! I am soooo glad i did too! I started my diet and exercise and this site helps in alot of other areas too, i love it here!
I joined Mommytimes in 1996 while pregnant with my youngest. I've followed everyone to mom to mom and then to here.
I joined MomtoMom in 1999 or 2000?? And followed everyone to Momsview.
I was actually searching for a Disney website that I had used when I was planning our last trip. I probably would have skipped right over the link but the name "momsview" sounded interesting so I took a look. I'm glad I did.
I found momsview by doing a search for SAHM message boards. And, I've been here ever since. Now, it's a part of my day!

Date back to the Mommytimes days too. Bobbie, I remember all that stuff too.
One day dh was driving me CRAZY !!!!!!!! Can't remember what he was doing, but my mom and sister weren't home, or it was late at night so I couldn't phone anyone...I just wanted to vent it all out..so I went on the internet and typed in "wives venting" and this site came up! Then I started reading different posts and totally forgot about why I was mad! Now, this is the first place I go to in the morning when I am having my tea! Been here just a few months... fiona
I found Momsview when I was searching for games and crafts to play at the school parties. I check it everytime after Iv checked my e-mails.
I came over from Mom2Mom. Also, my mother Bubbels is the Board Administrator.
I found Momsview through a google search on potty training for my older ds while on maternity leave with my baby ds. This is an amazing site and I've learned so much from everyone who participates. You all have a heart of gold and a wonderful spirit and so insightful!
Not sure how I came to find Momsview. I was a previous member and then I quit for awhile after not having a computer. And then when I tried to login this morning, I couldn't remember my p/w so I just re-registered.
I found Momsview through Google. I really wanted to connect with other people. It gets very lonely where I live. I love being here. I missed 3 days because I had no keyboard. I still read the message boards but it was tough not being able to reply to some of the topics posted. Also the fitness board has been very helpful. It is very relaxing here at momsview
I went to Google with a laundry question, and found others with the same problem on MV. (Clothes smelling sour if you don't get them out of the washer right away). I started reading the posts, and I was hooked.
