Hamster woes
My 8 yr old dd's hamster, Teddy, has been sick, and truthfully I didn't think he's last the weekend. Saturday he looked awful and when Jess asked if we could take him to the vet, I thought why bother? But I called anyway and we got some antibiotics for him...he's actually looking a lot better this morning, though not quite to his normal rodent self. I have more hope, though! I wasn't going to share, but then after reading about Lisa the Lizard, I thought I might as well. Teddy is my dd's first pet, and I know all too well how easily little hamsters can get sick and die...and how traumatic is is for the kids! Keep your fingers crossed for Teddy, would you?
For Teddy...
My dd had a hamster too named teddy, lol. We take all our pets to the vet when they are sick, it is much better to spend the money then to explain to our children why we didn't do something!! We just had to take our guinea pigs and my dh wasn't sure if it was worth it to spend 30 bucks when the pet only cost 10, but when he saw dd's face i guess it got through to him!! Fingers crossed!!
Hoping teddy's feeling better
I hope he gets better soon. I love animals and hate to see them sick.
Sending ~~~get better vibes~~~ to little Teddy!
He was cleaning himself today, so I take it he's feeling somewhat better (I think most animals don't care to groom if they're really sick). Still not eating, but drinking and moving around. I know what you mean about the vet...I didn't think it'd help much, but I knew I could at least say we tried if he did die. He's only a year old, so he should last at least two or three more years (large Teddy Bear). Oh, what we do for our children! LOL
I hope Teddy continues to improve. My two grandsons just got hamsters within the past week and a half.
I showed Jess the get well card and she loved it! She wanted me to print it out and put it next to Teddy's cage where he could see it He tried to eat a bit last night, we are still hopeful.
