How far is Disney World from the ocean?
We are finally doing it...going to DW! After years and years of planning, it's time. Yay! Being in the Midwest, I want to show my land-locked daughters the ocean, and wonder how long it takes to get from DW to the water. We will be flying there and staying at the complex, but we could rent a car and take some time, couldn't we? TIA!
Cocoa Beach is only about 45 minutes from Disney. It's a nice beach, and usually not too crowded.
Daytona Beach is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours depending on traffic. We are dead east on I4. Depending on when you are coming...Bike week starts Feb 27 and ends March 7 and then Spring Break starts then til the end of April. So if you come to this beach, it may be really busy. I agree with Kolbysmom, Cocoa is a nice beach. With all the driving on ours, it tends to be different. Have fun!
Yes I lived right by Cocoa Beach. It is very nice.
We always go to Cocoa Beach when we go to Orlando. It is really very close to Orlando as someone else said about 45 min to an hour. The kids always have a blast there no matter what time of year it is.
What fun Janet. I have never been to DW but I just wanted to say I hope you and your family have a great time ! I know you will and your kids will love it ! Take a lot of pictures. We`ll get there some day, LOL !
I just remember that after a long day at Disney World, it seemed like forever to drive to Daytona Beach! LOL! I got to go there when I was 19, way back in 1979!
If your going with your family, I don't recommend Daytona Beach. We have been there the past two summers for my dd's dance competitions and there is nothing to do as a family there. Daytona Beach is your typical spring break town. We are huge race fans and enjoyed seeing the Daytona International Speedway, but that was it. I wasn't even impressed with the ocean, but I love the ocean on the western side of Florida! I have heard a lot of nice things about Cocoa Beach though, but I have never been there.
Hopefully we will be in Florida this summer...probably August??? But we are headed toward the Ft. Myers area...anything interesting we can see down that way??
After talking with some friends who'd BTDT, I think we'll just stick to DW this time and try not to get too much packed in. We're only planning to spend three full days there, the first week of June. Funny, you say Cocoa Beach and I IMMEDIATELY get visions of Mjr. Nelson and Jeannie! LOL
