When friends move away...
One of my 12 yr old's friends moved yesterday. I don't think it's hit him yet that his friend of 8 years won't be a few doors down the street anymore. I'm feeling a little sad for both my son and his friend - it's hard moving away from the only town and neighbors you've ever known - and at the thought of losing some really good neighbors. Change is hard.
I understand what you mean. Our neighbors will be moving this summer. They are moving to a city about 45 minutes away from us. They have kids about the same ages as mine, they are all very good friends. They live 5 houses down from us and are always so nice and fun to be with. the girls love playing together and are always so excited to see each other. It will be a hard adjustment when they move. I feel bad for my kids, because they are the only ones we really know on our street and their kids are closest to my kids ages. I agree, change is hard
I got moved when I was 13. My family moved about 50 miles away from where we had been living. As much as I missed my old friends, I quickly made new ones and had to do it twice because we rented a house on one side of town while the new house was being built on the other side of town. So, for a semester I had one set of friends and then when I started high school in the fall, I had to make friends all over again! LOL! I make friends easily, so don't remember being friendless for long. One of the friends I left way back in 1973 is STILL my friend. She lives about 30 miles away from me now and we still get together once in a while. I have known her since I was 8. I moved about halfway through 8th grade.
yes we are going to move when my hubbys work moves in 2005. My son is already crying about it. We have moved so much and I pray the next time will be the last time!
