Cushing's Syndrome ?
Our dog was tested for glucose levels (which are fine) and Cushing's Syndrome. It looks from the first set of tests she may have this. The vet is running another test from her blood regarding her pituitary gland. I think it may also concern her liver/kidneys. She is 11, over-weight, pants incessively, drinks water constantly, has brownish speckles on her skin (abdomin)...to name a few of the symptoms. I was wondering if anyone else's pet ever developed this and what the treatment options are. TIA
Hi Annie... I had a foster dog with Cushings, it is a very common thing and can be controlled with drugs. When I read your post before I automatically thought *Cushings*. It appears mostly in older dogs. I would ask if it is her pituitary or adrenal gland. The meds are not that expensive, and will help with the weight. Keep me updated!
Annie, also have your Vet transfer your Prescriptions to a pharmacy. Meds are much cheaper if you do not have to pay the middle man (vets office).
My mom's dog had it. She had a Maltese, and apparentely it's common for theme. She was on meds for several years. They told my mom she would die of old age before it killed her, and they were right.
