Limewire
DD loves her new MP3 player. Thanks for all of the suggestions and support when I asked about it. Now...I've tried to download Limewire where everyone told me to go to get music but I keep getting it in a different language and I can't figure out how to download it in English. Any suggestions?

Limewire
Be very careful, LimeWire has a lot of viruses and spyware, and is dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. Don't get me wrong, I am a pirate, and have used Napster, BearShare, and Limewire, but I only download torrents now because of the issues with the full content services.
OK, I am so new to this. What is a torrent? Is that a stupid question?
I got a MP3 player from my dad and I've been on limewire all afternoon finding songs. Crystal what should I be looking out for? Now I'm worried about viruses/spyware, help tell me where I should go!?!?! Not a stupid question Paula, I have no clue either? lol... Thanks!
Not at all a stupid question. Here is some info for you... BitTorrent Basically, I (the uploader) upload something, and leave it uploaded using my bandwidth for a couple days. 5 people download from me (leechers), then I take it down. They become seeders by keeping it available for others (leechers) to download from them, and so the baton is passed. The speeds are better because you are downloading from multiple sources (the seeders) at once, and as you are downloading, you are uploading for other users, which keeps the share going. It is peer-to-peer, but you find trusted sources (for example I get movies from a particular user on Pirates Bay whenever possible, because I know his quality is great and there are no viruses.), and often can get reviews from other users telling you the file is good, or warning not to DL because of viruses, poor quality, etc. You open the file you want to DL using a client, I use Azureus and BitTorrent*. *BitTorrent can refer to a protocol, a client, the company, and the software the company distributes. HTH, and that I didn't confuse you. It is actually really easy when you get started, and I would be glad to offer advice or tips as needed. Dave Matthew Band is one group who has always *encouraged* peer-to-peer sharing of their music, with certain guidelines. A great example of torrents is seen at antsmarching.org, a fan site. You can also find tutorials on how to use torrents there.
Christy, Download a client, I recommend Azureus, then go to Pirate Bay and search for albums. Read the comments, and download the item. You want something that has multiple seeders, and good reviews. Download the torrent, it will ask you what to do with it. Select "open with..." the client you downloaded. Sit back and wait for the DL to finish! Email or call me if you need help, I'll email you my number.
Just a note, if you're downloading music with Limewire make sure the filesize is right. Music files should be about 2 to 3 mb or more. If you see downloads in kb then they're likely viruses. Make sure you also have a good anti-virus like AVG setup and scan a file before playing it for the first time. I prefer utorrent myself though I use Limewire and emule as well. Pirate bay, torrentz.com and isohunt.com are other good options for torrents. this is actually how I get a lot of documentries and text for homeschooling!
Also, make sure you move any files you download from the shared file to a music file you have set up on your computer. This keeps others from detecting the downloaded files on your computer. By the way, I never have anything in my shared file, and I never upload. I'm too worried about getting caught!
