Since I'm in this funk of hurting myself, lol, I was wondering....
If you had enough money to have one of the following which one would you have... A full-time chef... A full-time housekeeper.... A full-time laundry service.... A full-time lawn/snow removal service.... And why? I would pick a full-time chef, I don't mean just a cook, I mean a chef, like Oprah has, lol! Wouldn't it be wonderful to say, Oh, so and so, I think I would like (fill in the blank) for dinner this evening, lol! Only dreaming
A housekeeper! Then, I would have time to cook and have fun with it! No thinking "Oh, I need to clean the bathroom!" LOL! Great question!
Hmmm....all of the above? LOL I think I would pick a chef. Just like you said Marg...like Oprah's chef. I would have him/her make lots of healthy yummy stuff. And, I wouldn't have to worry about the calories, saturated fats and so on. That would be very fun
I'd go for the housekeeper!
I can't decide between the housekeeper and the laundry service. Right now my clothes hamper is overflowing, and there is one load in the washing machine and one in the dryer. I am so bad for getting behind on my laundry so I guess I'll be different and go with the full-time laundry service. Maybe I could get the housekeeper to do the laundry too. LOL!
The housekeeper, so I could focus on cooking.
Housekeeper, for sure.
Housekeeper. Hands down.
Laundry service for me.
Chef for me, hands down!!!!!!!
How many people do you think Oprah has on her house staff. I guess the house she actually lives in everyday. I don't know where she lives, but I'd be curious.
Actually, ladies, what each of us would really like is a "wife" - the traditional kind of "house-wife" who does the housekeeping, laundry, cooking, and all the rest - that is, all the stuff we do without getting paid cash money for it.
Chef, no questions about it. Cooking is what keeps me from getting other things done. Before I can finish one task or fun thing, I have to stop to start cooking. Now mind you, my chef is the one that plans the menu, shops for it, keeps track of it and cleans up after him/herself. Oh the joy of having my meals ready for me and planned according to budget and calories. All I have to do is say "I think I'll be ready for lunch at 12:30" and know something healthy and yummy is on the table at 12:30.
Hey Dana, if your chef will also throw in a few loads of laundry and clean the toilets, I'll hire him!
LAUNDRY SERVICE NOOOOOOOOO Question!
Marg...I seen a tour of Oprahs house once. She actually lives in a big huge building. Not sure which floor she is on, but it is up high. She has a beautiful view, but I wouldn't want to live in a building like that. She had a maid at the house when the "tour" was taking place. She had some very nice things, but it really wasn't my style at all. I'm sure she loves it though! I did think her exercise room was pretty neat. It had lots of windows with some amazing views.
I'd easily take the lawn service. I enjoy cooking, don't mind laundry, and while cleaning is not my favorite thing to do I feel it very fulfilling to be the one who makes my house a home. I would NOT want a stranger to do that and would not want a stranger getting their hands all into our "stuff." I would really turn down free housekeeping if I won it in a contest...that's my turf
Pass it this way, Pam!!! I'd take the housekeeper any day. I used to have a cleaning lady weekly, but I can't afford it anymore. I love cooking, don't mind laundry, and hubby does the snow and grass.
tried to find a link to the music but here's the lyrics anyway: I work all day at a break-neck run, Just to come home to another pile of work to be done. An' all I wanna do is flop on the couch and die. Baby comes in: he's give out too. I say: "It's pizza or nothin', an' Trixie's all out of dog food." I could just break right down and cry. I need a vacation from my life. Me an' my husband, we need a wife. Somebody who's sole ambition is laundry. I wanna fall asleep on my patio swing, While somebody else does the dishes an' cleans. Merry Arches could stroll through the autoplay, softly. Wouldn't even have to leave 2523, General George Patton Drive: But I need a vacation from my life. Don't even get me started on Saturdays, All I do is rearrange the clutter, Yeah, I invented shabby chic. Who wants to mow when it's so dang hot? Me an' baby got a theory 'bout our little half-acre lot: If it blooms, it's not a weed! Oh, I need a vacation from my life. Me an' my husband, we need a wife. Somebody who's sole ambition is laundry. I wanna fall asleep on my patio swing, While somebody else does the dishes an' cleans. Merry Arches could stroll through the autoplay, softly. Wouldn't even have to leave 2523, General George Patton Drive: Oh, I need a vacation from my life. Me an' my husband, we need a wife. Somebody who's sole ambition is laundry. I wanna fall asleep on my patio swing, While somebody else does the dishes an' cleans. Merry Archers could stroll through the autoplay, softly. Wouldn't even have to leave Mid-state, Tennessee, 2523, General George Patton Drive: But I need a vacation from my life. Whoa, I need a vacation from my life. That's right.
A house-keeper for me. It is probably the thing that takes the most amount of time for me. I love to cook so I wouldn't give up that job. If DH had to choose then it would be the lawn service/snow removal-He is responsible for those jobs and hates them both!
hmmm, i thnk i would also have a chef, i don't mind cooking or cleaning too much cuz it gives me a break from the kids!! But i would like a chef so that i could have something different all the time and maybe some real good tasting healthy stuff!!
housekeeper for sure. Then I would have time to acctually make some great food. Hubby does the snow and lawn anyways. Laundry isnt so bad(i wear the same pajamas almost everyday at home and my son only likes to wear underwear-so we dont have piles of laundry really)-but when the baby comes in late June, then I might be wishing for a chef or laundry service!
I hate cooking, that's for sure, but I would be very uncomfortable with someone else touching my food and preparing it. No, I don't enjoy eating out. I could not possibly allow a housekeeper, either. Everyone's habits are different. I'll never forget when my sister was in the hospital and the cleaning lady came in. She took one short handled mop, cleaned the floor with it, then the inside of the toilet, then she ran it over the SEAT. THE SAME MOP. So you never know just how hygienic someone else is. The house might LOOK clean, but it might be crawling with germs. Nope, it would be far too stressful to me to have someone else touch my things. SO, I would take the snow/lawn service. We already have snow service, but I'd looove lawn, too, so my husband didn't have to slave over it. Also, a lawn service might actually get GRASS to grow!!!
I would have to say house keeper. I love to cook but I hate to clean.
When I was growing up (from Jr. High on throughout highschool) my mom had a lady that came in to clean weekly. I hated it when she came. I could always tell that she had been there as soon as I walked in my room. She moved things around so they were "her way". I use to have little kitten shaped soaps. She took them out of the box to display them in my bathroom and threw the box away. They were special to me and I liked keeping them in the box. She was just irratating. Rearranging drawers and dumb stuff like that. She stayed for just over a year. The next lady, that cleaned for my mom for years, was really great. I loved it when she cleaned. Everything was left as it was...it was just cleaned. She didn't rearrange or do things differently than I had already done them. She was the best one. I always think I might like to hire out for cleaning help (if I can ever afford it LOL), but then I think of that lady that went through all my stuff and it turns me off to the idea. I think it's all about finding the right person. But, who knows how many you would have to go through to find her (or him!).
