Real Birth Photos Link--Interesting!
http://www.birthdiaries.com/diary/ The above is a link to a photo diary of births. Some is very graphic, but they are all labeled accordingly. I found it very interesting, especially as I was a bit too busy to 'see' my own children being born. With the first one I had my eyes closed the whole time anyway so I never looked in the mirror, with the second I was totally wide eyed and they offered no mirror. Anyway, it's pretty interesting and I thought I'd share it with all the moms. Again, some of it IS graphic, but it's real...it's birth!
I'll have to check this out after the kids go to bed. Did a quick viewing of the "very modest" photos. It AMAZES me what pics women are willing to post on the Net. We have NO pics of me during labor or delivery and I wanted it that way! LOL!
Wow, those are extremely graphic! The miracle of birth in its entirety!
Wow they are graphic. I was looking at them and thinking ugggg thats what it looks like. Did you see the one with the lady who gave birth outside?
I always liked watching "Birth Story" on the Discovery channel, but I turned down looking in the mirror when my ds was born, other than a quick glance. It's pretty amazing what we're capable of doing (and more than once!).
hmmm, maybe they should show these in middle school/high school when they start talking about abstinence/birth control.
Colette, you are right! These pictures would surely deter some teenagers.... I had a mirror for the birth of Goosie. It was definitely an experience I will never forget...
I agree totally that these pictures should be shown to teenagers. Im glad I didn't see them before I gave birth to my kids. It just didn't seem as bad as it looked in some of those pictures. I watched in between each contraction with my girls. I really liked the ones of the ladies who gave birth in the water.
yes, they are very graphic . I agree also that they they may deter some teenagers ....... No wonder my husband fainted. just kidding
I had a mirror for both and videotaped both births....over my shoulder though, so no "direct shots." Birth #1 is rated G (had a epidural), birth #2 is PG-13 (natural childbirth LOL---no cursing, just lots of thrashing about which led to some unintended flashing). I remember with my first son when they wheeled the big mirror in and I saw myself in all my glory, I turned to Dh and said, "I bet you never thought on our first date that one day we'd be here and looking at that!" Gross!!
I will be showing these pictures to my teenager and a DF of mine showed them to her daughter tonight. I think that they are graphic but to a child that thinks that it is as simple as breath push they might think again.
I only checked out a few of the pics -- they definitely would be eye openers for teens, that's for sure. I had a mirror for DS's birth -- I had requested it, I'm glad I did --- it was a very memorable experience - something I don't want to forget. I will do the same when the time comes for baby #2.
