Blood in diaper
Well, I took my 9 month old to the dr today for 102 fever and pink streaks in her urine (which have both subsided today). He tested her urine for a UTI and said she didn't have any bacteria in her urine but that she did have blood in it. What I don't understand is that he didn't seem concerned with the blood. He asked my if she had fallen recently--she hasn't (she is only 9 months old!). He just said to come back if it appears in her diaper again and to bring the diaper. And he said her pink eye had cleared up--it was probably just a clogged tear duct or something causing it to drain. Maybe I am just a worrisome mother, but I didn't think blood in the urine would be okay. Anyway, thanks to all for the comments yesterday.
I have to say, listen to your mommy instinct. It might be time to get a second opinion!
I agree to listen to your instincts.
Are you breastfeeding? I was thinking maybe it could be a hormonal change, if you are and have recently stopped? I don't know though just a thought...I would definetly get another opinon if you feel his Dx was not right.
I agree with the others. Always trust that maternal instinct. Get another opinion.
Emdee. My niece recently went to the dr. over the same thing. They also did tests on her and said she would be fine she had an upper respitory infection and more than likely the blood in her urine was from the infection and they told my sil not to worry it will be alright. and now she is fine..
Thank you, momoffour. My little one does have some sort of upper resp. infection (constant runny nose and cough), so maybe that is what is going on. It is reassuring to hear. Thanks!
I agree to trust your instincts.. My niece had blood in her stool in October. SIL & BIL took her to ped and he said it was a stomache virus and would just take 7 - 10 days for her to get over. It continuted to get worse they took her in 2 more times that same week and FINALLY the dr tested her stool sample and she had ecoli. She was very ill and if BIL and SIL hadn't have trusted their instincts she would have gotten even worse. I don't mean to scare you or make you think your dd has something serious but just wanted to let you know that trusting your mommmy insticts is always the way to go. Don't give a thought to a dr who thinks you are overprotective.
