Santa gift identifiers?
How do you identify your kids gifts from Santa. When we only had one child it was easy - we had his name on metalic confetti that we glued to the presents and we had special paper that Santa's gifts were wrapped in. This year with two its a little more difficult. We have the same wrap from Santa it's just how do we identify who the gifts are for? I thought about using an initial stamp on each gift, any other ideas?
I printed labels on the computer! She is too old for that now, but she never even questioned it. LOL The gifts from dh and I had regular labels that I wrote on.
In our house, we dont wrap Santa gifts, so its easy..We have all the wrapped presents under the tree, and Santa only brings one special present to each child. Those santa presents are not wrapped and just left out in front of the tree.
My mom would label presents, in an inconspicuous spot, so she knew who it was for. Then, before she put them under the tree, she put tags on and said, "from Santa". We never questioned why it was her handwriting and not Santa's. LOL! (She didn't like to label presents ahead of time, in case we got "snoopy!") I've always wrapped my kids' present in different wrapping paper, from each other. I would put, from Santa, too.
We have always done all of the gifts under the tree are from mom & dad and Santa does the stockings. It made having to "lie" to them much easier!
I guess I don't understand....don't you just have tags that you can write on 'To Molly From Santa'?? We use regular gift tags and Daddy disguises his handwriting. Surely the elves tag all Santa's gifts!! Otherwise Santa, himself, won't know who they are for, what with a sleigh full of toys for the whole world!!
My parents always had wrapped gifts from Santa as well, and just used regular tags that said 'to Mary from Santa' like Kate suggested. I love your idea of the initial stamp though - I think that's cool!! We do it similar to Jackie. Santa brings several gifts that are open and set up around the family room and tree, as well as the stockings. The gifts that are wrapped are from us and are under the tree pretty early in the season.
Often we will put the gifts for each child in a separate pile with their stocking next to their pile. That way, each child knows exactly which presents are for them from Santa because their stocking is with them. We've also used gift tags before, and disguised our writing. The gifts from us are all under the tree. The gifts from Santa get left out in front of the tree.
My mom never disguised her writing. I never really thought anything of it.
I have special wrapping that is from Santa, to help me remember which wrapping paper it is, the wrapping I has Santa on it. This year I hid the wrapping paper and the tags (that I only used as the "From Santa" tags) in the same spot I hid the "fromSanta" gifts. I also disguised my handwriting by making it a bit fancier. Last year the first thing dd said on Christmas morning was "wow, santa has the same wrapping paper we do" I said "santa must shop at Target as well " My mom never worried about this stuff, and I never noticed that kind of stuff.
We didn't wrap Santa gifts.
When the boys were little, we'd put their stocking with their Santa stuff. Or I'd get special Santa only tags and attach them. For dd I usually get a Santa only tag.
Patti, we do the same thing. My mom wrapped our presents from Santa in paper with his face on it, lol. So I just started doing the same. Your daughter is so cute. Although I have never met her, I know I would like her! Speaking of wrapping, I still have to wrap those Santa gifts tonight! Lara has been so excitable lately, that getting her to bed at an early hour has been a challenge. I think I will be up all night once she is asleep. I'm sure there will be some good Christmas movies or music on T.V. tonight, so I won't mind.:-) It wouldn't seem like Christmas without at least one night of staying up really late.
Our santa gifts aren't wrapped, he only gets a few gifts from santa but the majority are from us. This year he's getting the transformer voice changer helmet and High School Musical 2 along with Zach and Cody dvd. He'll also have a stocking with stuff in it from santa, all else will come from me. It's interesting, it seems the more southern states do the just one or a few gifts from santa when the further north you get the more comes from Santa.
Santa never gives the same amount of gifts each year. I just buy whatever and then divide it up between us and Santa. This year Santa is giving six gifts, plus everything in the stocking. And yes, I'm in the north.
I've decided this year only one present for each child will come from Santa, and they will be unwrapped. Everything else is from us, so I will wrap them, and this way I won't have to worry about using different paper to make sure they don't notice. It's hard enough that Sant's writing is just like min, LOL!
We always leave a big gift (usually one for each child, but this year, they will be getting a combined gift: the wii) from Santa, and sometimes a couple of small things. Oftentimes, it will be themed, such as last year my son received the big pirates of the caribbean playset and some figures to go with it. I just feel it is so magical that Santa leaves something so fun and nice for the kids! And he always sets it up so it's sitting there in all its glory ready to be played with! LOL! This year Santa is bringing the Wii, and lots of games. We are putting everything in a box, wrapping it in special shiny red foil paper and putting one of those HUGE bows on top. I am SO excited!
Kate- That's what we do. Buy everything and then divide it up, biggest gifts coming from Santa. Natalie has maybe 6 gifts from Santa this year, plus stocking, then 7-8 gifts wrapped under the tree from us. Adena- IKWYM! I love that everything is set up and ready to play with.
At our house, Santa only sends stocking stuffers with all the "real" gifts from Mom and Dad. Santa doesn't wrap the stocking stuffers at our house but he sets up all the gifts that were opened the night before so everything is ready to be played with. This also cuts down on the "will you open this?" when they first open toys. They know that's Santa's job. Plus, I love that the living room looks like Toyland when they come out on Christmas morning.
When the kids believed we wrapped all the Santa gifts in red paper. Then they knew that the red paper was from Santa with out even having to read the tag. We wrapped their gifts on Christmas Eve, which I will miss doing tonight. Our gifts would be wrapped in printed paper and Santa's would be in bright red. We would put the presents out around the room in piles for each kid, with their stockings in front of it, so they knew whose gifts were whose, and who they were from with out having to read tags. We open one gift at a time, so that everyone gets to see who got what. Instead of a mad dash of flying paper..
We have large felt sacks that I picked up at Michaels a few years ago that I put each individual child's santa gift in. I also tie an ornamanet with their name on the bag so that they know which one is theirs.
Santas gifts in our house now and when I was growing up were and never are wrapped. Presents from us are wrapped and under the tree we open those on Christmas Eve and then Santa's stuff is out and put together and ready for use Christmas Day morning.
