Italian Charm Bracelet Question

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: Italian Charm Bracelet Question
By Mommyathome on Monday, January 26, 2004 - 12:13 pm:

For anyone that has one....how do you get the links off and add new charms? I have the bracelet, and 2 charms that I want to add. I need to remove 2 links from the bracelet because it is too big, and then I need to remove 2 more links so I can add in the 2 charms. Do I need a special tool for this? Or do I need to take it to the jeweler?

No special tool needed but i had my husbands cousin put the first one in lol and then i've attempted to put two in myself didn't work so i had someone else do it.A person where i work was told they couldn't put them in for them but maybe the worker was being too lazy? i don't know i would go ahead and try the jeweler.

Thanks Brandy :) It just seems like I would have to bend the link to get it out and I don't want to do that.

If you pull on the braclet the links open up and there are little hooks where the links come off. You do not need a jewleler to remove them. Just keep trying. You do not have to bend them to remove them. Its a little hard trying to explain it in words. Maybe someone else here can explain it better.

YOu do have to bend the link, but not in half, the link will be fine. At the end of the link you will see where it is linked into the next one. Bend it right at that joint and take it off. Once you do it once, you'll have the hang of it. It isn't the easiest thing I have ever done in the world, but you don't need a jeweler.
