Shed a tear and say a prayer for Bob Keeshan, Captain Kangaroo
who has died. I watched him when I was a little kid (many, many years ago) after we got our first television. And my kids watched him. His kind of children's television is sorely missed, imo.
Oh Ginny, I did too! He was probably the sole person that gave my mom some quiet time He will be missed!
I loved Captain Kangaroo when I was a kid. My kids have even seen it via videos, although my 11yo dd doesn't have a clue what I'm talking about.
I have fond childhood memories of Captain Kangaroo.
So do I Trina.
I loved Capt Kangaroo. This is sad.
I loved watching his show when I was little. My DH who is only 3 yrs. older than me never watched it. I think he missed out.
Oh how sad... First Mr Rogers and now this. How terrible.
Oh, my! I was a Captain Kangaroo kid since 1958 - my mother tells me about a time when I was a little over 2, and she walked into the room and I sat crying in my little chair in front of our black & white set. She asked me what was wrong, and I sat blubbering over a story that included some little animal that became separated from its mother. That was the worst possible thing I could imagine happening. God bless you, Captain - I'll always be one of your greatest fans.
And also Ray Rayner died, not sure if any of you get WGN, but he was another childhood memory of joy! Now they are all gone.
My brothers and I grew up on Captain Kangeroo. They just don't have shows like that any more.
We lost Mr. Rogers last year, and now Captain Kangaroo. They were from a gentler era, when children's programs taught morals and manners. (Barney did, too, in later years). They were men who left a legacy to millions of children. God rest their souls.
Ditto!
