Is it backyard or back yard??
Good Lord you would think I would know this, but dd is writing a story for home work and I am having a brain cramp. Is it one word or two???
one word
That is what I was thinking, but it didn't look right! LOL Always trust your first reaction! Thank you, now dd can finish it up!!
I would say two words - back yard, unless you are talking about a backyard appliance. But I am chiming in late so this is probably not helpful.
Do you know what I do when I forget how to spell something? I know it sounds stupid, but I type it in on Google! When you type in back yard it says, "Did you mean backyard?" (Webster's dictionary agrees that it is one word, by the way)
Sorreeee. Though I note that while google asks if you mean "backyard" when you type "back yard", it lists stuff under backyard and back yard. Websters I will accept as definitive, but not google. But still, is it then frontyard, sideyard, junkyard (oops, I think it is junkyard). It just doesn't make sense to me. I think it may be one of those words where either is correct. I hope so, because I am going to continue to write back yard, front yard, etc.
