Enviro Steamer:):):):):):):):):)

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: Enviro Steamer:):):):):):):):):)
By Marg on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 11:37 am:

I posted in December that I really wanted the Hoover Floormate but really didn't want to spend the money $179.95.

Stori you were great trying to find me deals on this, but I was still scared to pay over $100.00 for something I wasn't sure would work.

The whole reason behind this (I have some mental issue I should get down on my hands and knees and scrub my floors, lol) is the type of flooring we have. I chose it over 15 years ago and has held up very well. It is a tile that looks like stonework, it is various shades of grey and white. It is very pretty but has crevasses that literally make you scrub on your hands and knees. Remember this when you get new flooring:)

Well I believe it was Eve and Stori who told me about the Enviro Steamer and the price $39.99. I was in Kmart today, promising myself I would buy a mop and not get down on my hands and knees. Mop (good one $12.99) But I had past the enviro steamer and really had to think hard. So I picked up the enviro steamer, and promised myself if it did not work, I was taking it back.

Got it home, hooked it up, started it, laughing to myself the whole time, thinking how can this little thing clean that floor!

Well let me tell you, my floor has never been this clean. It actually steams the dirt out of these crevasses that I would use a wire brush! This flooring is in a main hallway and in a double room size 12' x 24'.

I just wanted to thank Eve and Stori and anybody else with their information. I am truly happy:)

I have one too, thanks to Eve's raves, and love it!

By Dana on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 12:39 pm:

I'll have to go find one now! I have some left over birthday money to spend. Hmmm, should I spend it on CLEANING!?

By Marg on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 12:41 pm:

Dana, that's what I thought, this much money on something to clean your house:( But honestly it's worth it. At least it was for me.

Maybe you should have the attitude I did, if it doesn't do what you intended take it back!

By Yjja123 on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 04:51 pm:

I bought this when it first came out for $150.00---actually I convinced hubby to buy it for me for Christmas. I love it! The new ones have a better cloth (mine just slides on and can actually fall off)
I had grey looking tiles throughout my kitchen and dining room. When I used the envirosteamer I discovered true white tiles!
I now also have the hand held envirosteamer which I use to clean the bathrooms and the grill (among other things). It is great at making all the gunk around the faucet come right out. It also melted the soap scum off the shower.
Great Product!

(((Marg))),
I was just thinking of you at Kohl's two days ago when I passed the isle with the steamer's! So glad you like it...I have to admit I LOVE MINE! :)

By Amy~moderator on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 09:56 pm:

I have the Enviro Steamer, too! It is wonderful!

By Melanie on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 09:58 pm:

Alright, alright, alright! I will get one! LOL. (And thanks for all the great reviews!)

By My2girlygirls on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 09:07 am:

Let me ask you this... I have tile in my kitchen, it is not smooth tile, will this still clean this?

By Marg on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 09:14 am:

Sarah, that is how my tile floor is. It is not smooth, it's got pretty deep crevasses to make it look like stone work. It's beautiful but the dirt can really can in them. This loosens it out of the crevasses and the cloth wipes it away. I used to get down on my hands and knees (I've had knee surgery so this is not easy) and scrub with a wire brush to get it clean. This actually does a better job. The cloth on the bottom is a waffle weave, it is not smooth. I'm doing the rest of my floor today.

By Marg on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 09:15 am:

BTW, dh was even impressed:)

By Kolbysmom on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 09:21 am:

I think I'm going to look into getting one. I have had the Hoover Floormate for a little over a year, and I've only used it 5 or 6 times. I hate using it. It' so big and cumbersome..plus the way it's designed makes it impossible to get up along the walls.

By Texannie on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 09:38 am:

I am confused. Is this $40 or $100? I was looking online cause I really need something like this, but can't find anything for $39.99.

By Mommyof4 on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 09:42 am:

Where do you get the cloths that go on the bottom. I have an envirosteamer that I have had almost 2 years but I haven't been able to find any of those replacements cloths in the stores so it has been sitting in my closet for quite awhile.

By Marg on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 09:48 am:

I should make a note!!!!! I purchased the Enviro Steamer 300A $39.95 from Kmart. I don't think it was a special, but they had a lot of them. On the internet it looks like this model cost $60+, There is also a bigger model for over $100, but I am happy withthis one.

I will look at the info that I have where you can purchase extra pads, I did not look in Kmart yesterday.

By Marg on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 10:01 am:

www.eureka.com shows all their products, go to this website. At the top hit products and then go to steamers. I have model 300. It also shows a list of dealers to go to or online.

As for ordering replacements, I am sorry I need a new scanner, so I can not scan the document, however

By Eve on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 10:09 am:

Wow! Lots of Enviro Steamers out there now!

I am happy with mine. I paid $50 for it (I think the price has come down now) and it's not big at all. I like how I don't have to scrub spots anymore. Just leave the steamer over it for another second and off it comes. I also like that there are no chemicals, and nothing bad for my DD to breathe in. Thumbs up from me!

It's about time, Melanie. LOL! :)

By Truestori on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 11:07 am:

I seen one at Kohl's for 24.99! It was a special price so check there first if you have one. It is actually the newer model and it looks like a new design!

Mommyof4~they sell them on ebay and truthfully I was gonna break down and just replace my steamer because they are fairly cheap and I like the newer model.

Mel~I think you will really like it. I think my favorite part is the floor only gets damp so it dries fairly quick, and I can mop before company comes over without the horrible smell of pine-sol. Happy mopping! LOL :)

By Truestori on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 02:52 pm:

Yvonne,
I didn't realize there was a hand held one..lol Oh no you just opened up a whole new reason for me to go shopping...LOL :)
How does it work?
I have the black and decker one that my mom gave me and I never use it...so I wonder if this one works better?
just curious...

By Cat on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 02:56 pm:

I need to check into one of these! Right now we have linolium in our kitchen, entry and baths, but we're going to eventually be putting some "fake" wood of some type in the kitchen and entry. Can you use it on that? You know, the type that you don't glue down, but it's like tongue and groove? Anyone kwim??? I can't think of what it's called right now. Mommy brain, kickin' in. :)

By Eve on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 03:19 pm:

Cat-yes, you can use it on laminate. Our kitchen floor is a Pergo, which is floating. :)

By Yjja123 on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 04:06 pm:

TRUESTORI
http://www.eureka.com/products/steam/steamselect.htm
mine is the hand held model #350
Model 350 includes:
Extension hose, elbow tool, window squeegee, scrub brush, upholstery/clothing tool and upholstery cloth
I tried other brands this is the only one that I thought really worked. I use it all the time. It took a few refills to clean my soap scum shower but now its easy to keep it sparkling clean. It also steams clothes so I use it a lot for my stuff for ebay. You name it you can find a reason to use it.
I am thinking about buying the new version of the floor cleaner because I hate the cloth always falling off. Plus it so reasonable in price now.

Yvonne,
Thanks for the link, I am going to check it out. Two great minds must think alike because I was going to replace my whole unit instead of just buying new cloth's. It ends up being around the same price and it is the improved model... :)

By Dana on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 07:59 pm:

SO BUMMMED!!!!! I was so excited about spending my bday money today. I went to K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Target (2 of them), Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond and one other place which I didn't think would have them anyway. NOTHING! I MEAN NOTHING!

There was the Shark something or other, but it was around a hundred dollars.

Infact, not one store even knew what I was talking about!

So, almost unhappily, I spent my money on an ice tea maker and a nice towel warmer that was originally $40 on sale for $9. If I hadn't wanted that cleaner so badly, I would have been very pleased.

By Yjja123 on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 08:42 pm:

If you go to the website I listed above I believe it tells you which store sells them. I know Sears does.

By Yjja123 on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 08:46 pm:

Oh I forgot to mention I had the shark one and it was horrible! I returned it and got the enviro steamer.
