Forgotten Wit
I have to share this b/c my little 3 yr old daughter just blew me away with how witty she is. The other day we were making forgotton cookies and I let her help me with the mixing and taste tests. Well, after it was ready and she took the very serious job of offering each person in the famil one hand picked cookie, she sad down and enjoyed hers. Then she promptly came up to me and claimed "Mom.. I forgot I ate my cookie. B/c it's a forgotten cookie!! ha ha." Aren't kids amazing?? 3 years old! Btw, the recipe I was looking for awhile back ago and someone pointed me to 'divinities'.. it was actually forgotten cookies that I was trying to make But I got a bonus b/c now I have recipes for divinities and forgotten cookies! with an added bonus that I am now the coolest mom in her class b/c I can make 'homemade laffytaffy', as my daughter calls it.
Can you post the recipe for "forgotten" cookies? Or have you forgotten how to make them already? LOL! (Lame joke, I know....but it's after midnight;)
That is cute that she said that. Yea how about that recipe.
LOL! Too cute!
This is the recipe that I used. I would suggest using either the regular chocolate chips or half the amount of bittersweeet, as it turned out a bit bitter. Forgotten Cookies Ingr: 2 egg whites 3/4 cup sugar 1tsp. vanilla 1 cup chopped nuts 1 (12oz) pkg. choclate chipes Set oven at 400degrees. Beat egg whites until stiff. Add sugar gradually. Add vanilla, nuts and chocolate chips. Drop by coffee spoon on greased cookie sheet. Turn oven off. Put cookies in oven and leave overnight. Yields 60-70 cookies.
Thanks sounds good and easy!
Are they called "forgotten" because you leave them in the oven overnight after turning it off? That would be my guess. I know I've seen that before with meringue cookies - preheat a hot oven and turn it off.
You got it, Ginny.
Those sound like resurrection cookies! You make them at Easter time and tape the oven shut. They look like a cave in the morning. We made them once.
