Anyone want to join weekly meal plans?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2004: Anyone want to join weekly meal plans?
By Dana on Sunday, January 4, 2004 - 11:56 am:

I just bought a fantastic cook book w/ some excellent recipes that are "diet" foods....although you get butter, salt, cream, sugar, all the good stuff.

They offer 2 week meal plan, however I noticed it doesn't take left overs into considerations. And I would have left overs going bad following their plan. So I need to alter my plans anyway.

Between using the info at the MealsMatters and this cookbook, I think I, and hopefully several of you, could really cook up some great weekly plans.

I was thinking we could each enter our own info at that site to get our specific daily recommendations. Make one general meal plan and then each of us take the weekly plan and alter to fit our specific needs.

I have no trouble picking out the mean course, but figuring out the extras that would go well and still fit my daily requirements to be the hard part. Also, remembering what will have leftovers.

Do you even think it is possible to brainstorm amongst ourselves and come up w/ plans?

My menu runs Wed-Tues. I shop on Tues cause that's when the money comes in.

I would Dana, but dh has promised to lose weight, so he is doing the slimfast thing. I may try it also. Good luck:)

I'm game! My family is always complaining about me cooking the same things over and over...

Great! Have you visited the site I mentioned? I signed up and figured out my calorie count for the day. I then changed the info to get my DH's count.

Then I started to work on a plan. Let me tell you, this is NOT EASY! I posted my first mesg at 11:56. I have been working and counting calories ever since. I now have 3 meals planned (breakfast, lunch, dinner) That is about 2 hours for just one day! I have a few extra calories remaining and need to pick out snacks for that day.

There has got to be an easier way!

I'm using MealsMatter.com to do this planning so far. I was using a recipe book program I have, but I was spending all my time typing in the recipes I know I want to use. I was having a difficult time finding recipes w/ their search file.

Marg, I was doing the slim fast thing for a while. I also started my workout routine at the same time. I was following both as directed.

However, I found myself sleeping at every opportunity. I was not getting the nutrients I needed on the slim fast diet. It didn't start to show until about 5-6 weeks into the program.

That is why I am trying to find a healthy EATING plan with real food at each meal. Boy do I wish something as simple as the slim fast worked. I really don't like the time it is taking to make a menu plan.

My MIL has been drinking slimfast for years. She hasn't lost any weight. But, she does like the drink, and that it has so many nutrients that she normally wouldn't get by skipping breakfast.
I've thought about drinking it just for the added nutrients. I rarely eat breakfast, and lunch is hardly nothing as well. I thought it might be a healthy choice if I added in a slimfast for breakfast.
Though, I haven't done any research on slimfast or anything like that.

I do enjoy doing the drink for breakfast. Esp since it takes no time or effort. I have some in the fridge right now.

It just wasn't enough as a wieght loss plan. Plus I was really working out for 45 minutes 6 days a week.
