Need help finding...

a make your own cook book. I want to make cook books to give to my dks when they move out (many, many years from now). I want one that is a book with pages where you put in your own recipes (not one with recipes already in it) so I can make a book of their favorite recipes growing up. Sort of like recipe cards only in book format. I found one through Current two days ago, but they are all sold out.:( Has anyone seen these? Does anyone know where I can find them?

What about using a wordprocessing program? With today's programs you can add photos and special effects.

That's just Amazon. I'm sure any bookstore would have blank recipe books. A cooking store would have them, too, as well as probably Bed Bath and Beyond or Linens and Things. Perhaps Wal Mart, Target, etc.

Good luck!

What a great idea, Tunnia! I like Dana's suggestion. You could print up recipe pages and put them into a notebook. You could even put the pages in plastic sleeves to protect them. Hmmm... text description I have PrintShop and could easily do that. What a great gift to give to each child when they go off to college and/or out on their own. Thanks for the idea!

Use the computer!
You can create pages of recipes in MS Word, Works or any other word processing program.
You could use decorative computer paper and just print out recipes on that.
Print them and put in a binder.
Put the recipes in sheet protectors in binder (so they can be kept clean while using).
You can get real fancy with the binder---add fabric and decorative trim or cover the binder with fabric from your children's baby clothes or dresses.
There are binders that have a clear plastic shield (on the cover) where you can add pictures or a personalized sheet created on the computer.

We have several of these types of cookbooks. Ours came from an office supply store. Sounds like a great idea! My mom did something similar for me when I got married. She wrote down all of my favorite recipes that she made. (on to large note-cards) and put them all in a little container thingy. It's not a recipe container...just a container LOL. It has tabs for the different sections, and the recipes are easily removed, and put back in place. Love it!

Thanks everyone!

Kate, that is what I was looking for.:) Thank you so much. I looked on Amazon, but I didn't come up with that one. I guess I didn't use the right words in my search.

The computer idea is a good one and I have a computer cook book where I could print out pages and it would be really easy to do, but I want this project to have more of and heirloom quality. I plan to write most of the recipes, but I hope that my mother will write a few recipes in the book too. I think that a handwritten book with their mother and grandmother's handwriting would mean more to them later in life. KWIM?

I typed out my favorite Christmas cookie recipes, added a little clipart, made a cover, and then went to Office Max to get it laminated and bound (used the wire binding), so I could have a cookie cookbook that can get dirty and then wiped off. It's great having all the recipes in one place.

I got one of these homemade recipe books from my MIL-can you believe that? She did it very easily, she photo copied all her recipes and stuck them into clear page covers that have the 3ring holes in them them put it in a 3 ring binder and decorated the cover.

FROM MOM WITH LOVE.....

I love it, one of the BEST presents I ever got!

From my MIL i got a book when I married her son :) Some of the pages were typed, some written, all had notes about the meanings of the recipes. she took them to staples and had one of those spirals put on. I still use that book to this day!
