Third snow day
Today is our third snow day this year. We never close school for ANYTHING on the west coast (well, we did once for poor water but never for weather). I'm glad b/c it gives me a chance to get some Christmas baking done. DD is disappointed though. Her class was going on a swimming field trip today.
My girls are home again, too. This is our 4th snow day, which is unheard of at this time of year.
Wow! Some kids have had a snow day, in WI, but we haven't. Last Tuesday's storm was worse for people south of us.
We have had two snow days so far and the kids were on a two hour delay today. We have already had 17 inches of snow, in three storms and winter doesn't even start until the 22nd. Last year we had 21 inches of snow, total, all winter. I am a bit concerned about the snow coming this early. We generally do not start getting real snow, major accumulation, until the end of January beginning of February. We could be in for a long hard winter.
WOW! Your kids will be in school into July at this rate!
I thought we were going to have one again but we didn't. The week after Thanksgiving break we had 2 two hour delays and a day off. Yesterday our power went out to do high winds and ice. They told us we may not have power until Wednesday! My mom is on a different grid so we packed up as it was getting dark to go stay there, we have no heat without electricity. Fortunately it came back on about an hour after we left! Since we live right near their school I thought they may be out almost all week!
Our school year is never extended because of snow days, thank goodness!
Marcia, we are only allotted 5 Calamity days anything over the 5 must be made up at the end of the year. The kids are required by Ohio Law to attend 182 days of school. So we have used 2 and 1/3 of our days, thus they can only miss two more days and have two more 2 hour delays or they will be making up the time they are out of school. Last year they had to make up three days.
