I HATE SNOW!!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2007: I HATE SNOW!!
By Tonya on Sunday, December 16, 2007 - 02:22 pm:

OK ladies I love to look at it outside from inside and I love to play out in it with my kids. But come on does it have to be so heavy?

Rich is working 7 days right now 12 hrs. So I am trying to be a good SAHM and help him out by doing the shoveling but da@@ this stuff is too heavy to shovel. And we do NOT have a blower. It took me 90 minutes to shovel 1 path on the front walk and that was all I got done.

I need a blower NOW!!!!

I so hear you. Dh took dd snowboarding this morning at 5am, barely any snow falling, by 10am it was a whiteout and we ended up getting at least a foot, and now it is raining and going to freeze so if I didn't get out there with the •••• shovel it would be horrible. Took about 90 minutes to do a crappy job. We have my fil's snowblower but I don't know how to start it.

I'm with both of you. Though we've had very little snow so far, and don't expect much this winter, I hate it too.

By Colette on Monday, December 17, 2007 - 06:27 am:

I normally don't love snow, but enjoy a snowstorm every once in a while. We usually don't get much snow until we are well into January. Right now, there is at least 18 inches of heavy, icy, snow on my deck and we are getting another storm on Friday. This is way to early in the season for me.

By Dawnk777 on Monday, December 17, 2007 - 08:11 am:

I'm so sorry, Tonya. I wouldn't do well, having to hand-shovel the whole driveway. The sidewalk would about do me in. Do you have any enterprising teenagers near you, that could help? We do have a snowblower, but I would have no idea how to start it! LOL! I've only used it on rare occasions. DH is the one who usually does the snowblower and he does about the whole neighborhood, once he's out there. I wish I could send him to help you.

I hate it too. I like the first time of the season and that's enough for me! I'm in this house enough I don't like actually being trapped here!

(((hugs)))
I understand your frustration. That is why I moved south.
I do miss having a white Christmas though!

By Tonya on Monday, December 17, 2007 - 01:31 pm:

Well I did it all. 4hrs and it was finished and now today my arms and legs are killing me. I am fat and fat people should not have to shovel snow. Oh well it looks good and it is done!!! And Rich said thank you so that is all that matters.

By Angellew on Monday, December 17, 2007 - 04:47 pm:

I'm jumping on the "I HATE SNOW" bandwagon!!! I want to move to the desert!!! I want heat, sun and more heat! If I never see another snowflake, it will be too soon!!!

I spent three hours yesterday outside, shoveling and getting pelted with snow and sleet and for what??? I still had to kill myself getting out this morning!

By Reds9298 on Monday, December 17, 2007 - 06:47 pm:

Anyone who lives near snow MUST invest in a snowblower! You're life will be sooooo easy and you can actually enjoy the snow that way. :) I'm sorry for you all because shoveling is the pits! Check the local ads for used snowblowers asap!!:)

By Dawnk777 on Monday, December 17, 2007 - 07:01 pm:

No deserts for me. I would much rather stay where it snows. Deserts are too hot for me!

By Debbie on Monday, December 17, 2007 - 07:39 pm:

I couldn't have lived in Chicago without a snowblower!! The first time dh went out of town in the winter, I had him show me how to start it. As soon as I figured out how to get the blower to point down, so the snow wouldn't blow back in my face, I got pretty good at it.

By Bellajoe on Monday, December 17, 2007 - 09:00 pm:

I did shovel this morning, but we only had 1/2 inch...i didn't really need to shovel but i was stalling. I didn't want to go to work LOL. DH does the shoveling most of the time, but I worry about him. His dad had a heart attack last year, and he is overweight. I'm worried he will have one too. So I do think we need a snow blower, although i don't know where we will store it! Not much room in the garage.

I hate DRIVING in the snow. People go way too fast and then wonder why they can not stop fast enough! argh!

I love sitting INSIDE, by the fireplace, under a blanket and watching the snow fall. That's exactly what we did this weekend. OH and we watched the Browns beat the Bills :) in a SNOWSTORM

By Colette on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 - 06:52 am:

We are getting another storm tonight! AAAHHHH!!!

By Angellew on Thursday, December 20, 2007 - 11:28 am:

IT'S SNOWING..... AGAIN!!!!!! I CAN'T TAKE THIS!!!!!

The car was completely encased in ice this morning, and the commute was horrid!!! I want to crawl into a cave and hibernate until spring!

Colette, how much do you have? We're not that far from each other, but I think you're getting much more than I am!

By Dawnk777 on Thursday, December 20, 2007 - 11:42 am:

It's too early in the winter to be this upset! LOL! You still have January and February to live through, too!

By Colette on Thursday, December 20, 2007 - 11:59 am:

I don't know how much, but a lot more than they said we were getting. There has to be at least 2 1/2 to 3 feet on the deck - total from all the storms. Thank God, dh is home and using the snow blower.

By Angellew on Thursday, December 20, 2007 - 01:15 pm:

I agree with you Dawn, it is too early to be upset!!! LOL I just hate that we have gotten so much so quick, and so close to the holiday, to make everything difficult!

Born and raised in Boston, you think I would just let it go!!! haha

By Dawnk777 on Thursday, December 20, 2007 - 02:22 pm:

Encased in ice is not a good thing, though. That is the worst thing to have to scrape off your car. Once when I worked nights, I was still charting, when the other nurses left. When I came out a little while later, they were all finished scraping ICE off their windows, so they came and helped me with mine! I was so happy, because it would have taken my forever to have done it by myself.

Silver lining ahead! 50 degrees on Sunday so it will melt.
