Ruptured ovarian cyst
Dd has been complaining of stomach pain on and off for a few weeks. She had an ultrasound done today and the technician said it looks like she had a cyst that ruptured, but that she can't see any cysts now just fluid. Dd is feeling quite a bit better, shoveling snow for me right now, but when I google this, everything I saw told me this is a lot more serious than the technician indicated. Still waiting for the dr to call me, but does anyone have any experience w/this? Going anon because it's my dd.
I did some googling also, and from what I saw, if she is not in pain things may be OK, but I would sure want to have her seen by the doctor ASAP if it were my daughter, and obviously you feel the same way. Here's a link to the Mayo Clinic information on ovarian cysts generally: Mayo
Thanks Ginny, she did see the doctor, he ordered the ultrasound and now I am waiting for him to call me with the official results. I don't think it is anything to worry about, I would think she would be in pain if there was a problem.
I had this happen to me when I was in the 8th grade and after it ruptured it was fine. The pain was the pressure until in bursted. Of course follow up with the doctor but I think everything is going to be fine. I can't believe the tech was allowed to say something though... Hugs to your daughter!
My dd, my sister and I have all have had issues with cysts. But once they ruptured we were all fine... If she is feeling well enough to be shoveling it is not likely that there is any issue to worry about. Ruptured cyst are very common, often happen and feel like you pulled something.. Maybe a bad cramp. All three of us ended up on birth control by the way. Seems to be a common way to treat them.
