What to get...Christmas gift idea
What do you get somebody who you really do not know well? My 8 yr old is doing track conditioning right now. She joined a track team last spring, it was her first time. Although the team has not started, the coaches have offered the kids a 8 week conditioning program. I know my 8 yr old is not as active in the colder months so I thought it would be good for her. When we started going 6 kids were attending it, now the coach is lucky if 3 kids show up. Yesterday, Elizaeth was there by herself. So basically she had one on one personal training. I was sitting there thinking, this coach comes out 3 days a week on a volunteer basis to help the kids who want the help. I then decided I need to give this nice man a Christmas gift. Nothing big, but just something to say I appreciate his time. I know he has a wife and kids at home, so he is giving up some of his family time. I do not know this man well, other then some small talk at Track practice. So what do I get him? I was thinking maybe a Blockbuster gift card? I was also thinking maybe Barnes and Noble but then I don't know if he reads or not LOL... So what do you think would be an appropriate gift in this situation? I do want to give something, just dont know what?
Gift card for pizza, the Blockbuster gift card sounds good, a *goodie* basket - you know the kind I mean, with popcorn, or candy/cookies, etc.
One year dd had a male gym teacher. I got him the Sports Illustrated year in review magazine and he LOVED it. I think he mentioned it to me every time he saw me. LOL It was about 4 times the size of as regular magazine and had all different sports and what had went on that year. I am sure it was less than 15.00. I knew he was a sports nut though based on things dd said about him. Just an idea!
I think a restaurant gift card would be nice.
I think a restaurant gift card ( so he and his family could spend some time together) I personally don't like Block Buster gift cards, because you have to Join to use a gift card. (I think that is a wrong way to increase your membership growth. By basically forcing people to join.
Not to be negative, but I think you also need to not have Elizabeth being the only girl there with a male coach. If nothing else, it is the kind of thing that "looks bad" and could get the coach in trouble.
Ginny, I stay with Elizabeth during her practice. I am sitting right there with them. Since its been cold outside and dark, they do the conditioing inside the school. When the other kids do come, their parents stay as well. I am not the drop off my kid and leave type of parent. I stay with her when she goes to any activity outside of school. I had no idea that you had to be a member to use a Blockbuster gift card. I mean I am not a member of Blockbuster but I go in and buy previously viewed movies all the time, and never had to be a member to do this.
I had second thoughts that of course you stay with her, but you posted before I could edit my post.
I would go with something like a gift card to a place to eat or something sports related. All the coaches I know are sports fanatics and LOVE anything to do with any sports like Vicki said.
I vote for a restaurant gift certificate. And LOL on Ginny, I was going to post something similar. I assumed you stayed with her, but sometimes we just forget that we have to be on guard all the time. And kudos to you and her for doing this!
I think a restaurant gift card as well. I don't like the idea of blockbuster because of the having to join and now days with netflix and other online rental places you never know what they might already use. I also like the idea of a sporting goods store.
I vote for a restaurant gift card!!
