Always the way it goes
Everytime I have a big project due for school, my kids don't have school the day before. There might be a snow day or a parent conference. I have a research paper due on tuesday, I thought I had until Dec.4th. (got confused with a paper for another class)Of course, no school until Tuesday! At least I've been thinking about it. I don't procrastinate on purpose, that's just life and if I do it too early, I go over it like crazy. And my poor baby,3yr old dd is sick, throwing up, sick. She said she just can't take it anymore! Poor girl!
I hope your dd feels better soon. There is anit nausea med's she may be able to take if you call your doc, they will know. Poor sweet baby!! I hate that for you and her. We were just talking about your situation in class the other day. My friends and I all have kids and the SAME thing happens to us. lol I needed to sit down and study for a test last week. My plan was after class Wednesday to sit down and literally study until Friday early am before class! OK, I get all my books and notes out and begin studting and the school nurse calls... "Can you come get your son he isn't feeling well." I'm like, is he on fire, throwing up, have high fever, broken bone jutting out? ROFL Cuz I reallyyyyy need to study. I ended up picking him up and he really did feel bad. Poor kid. Yeah, it's something all the time. I can so relate. One guy was telling me that his wife will go out for something and leave him with their little bitty kids while he needs to be studying. He was cracking us up describing all the silly things his kids will then decide to do or get into while he should be studying. He has one child that he thinks is part monkey. lol It's tough! Hang in there though. You can do it!! (((Hugs)))
Does my dad get extra brownie points for keeping 3 girls very busy, and out of the house, when my mom needed to study? He took us all kinds of neat places, so mom could have peace and quiet to study. She went to school to graduate and get her master's degree in Library Science, from when I was 10, until I was 16.
Rayelle, I hope your little one is feeling better by now. Ditto Conni as far as the anti-nausea meds. I have given some to my dd in the past and it made all the difference! I just had to call the nurse. Dawn, your dad sounds great. And mom too! Sounds like she worked very hard to get her degree. I hope you are able to find time to study, Rayelle.
Wow, sorry for all the typos, etc... ack
Yeah I can relate. I would have to just put in earplugs and get into a zone and type away. I got a lot done in the wee hours of night whenever everyone was asleep too. It's hard but worth it. Get DH to help a lot too. Mine was a saint! Hope your DD is better soon!
From this post (and having kids now) I now understand why my mom was so hell bent on getting me into and OUT of college while I was still a "kid" without the stress of real life.
Dh would help more, he does when he is here, but this time of year he puts in more than 40 hours, plus he is working out of town so there is a longer drive. Although with his hernia it is strictly selling, no more moving pianos! Dd hasn't gotten sick anymore, but she is still not 100%, she wants to be cuddled and says she doesn't feel right. Conni- what are you going to school for? Yeah Dana, I hope my dks will go to college before they have kids, maybe enjoy the social aspect of it more. I had alot of scholarships when I graduated high school but I wasn't interested, forfeited them all so someone else could benefit. (I didn't even want to apply,I knew I would do what I wanted once I didn't have to live at home anymore but until then my mom made me.) I got a little depressed when I hit the age where I would have been done if I went straight through to a four year degree. Now, I love that I get to go, really appreciate it and I hope it continues to work out. And Pamt, I typed out a quick essay at 2 a.m. last week, lol!
The mantra at my house, since my mom did quit school to get married and have kids, was to finish college first, then get married! LOL! I heard it from little on. My sisters and I all heeded the advice! LOL! Rayelle, you forfeited scholarships????? My parents would have been livid!
I go t married while in college. I had about 1 year and a half left. It certainly changed my outlook and my social life..LOL. I graduated in dec and had my first child in Februrary. CRAZY. It worked for me, but we are the exception. We both were very goal oriented and had a very firm plan. I have highly explained that to my kids. Both my hubby and I were different, we had a lot of responsibilties as children and weren't the average child. And we were lucky!
Oh Dawn, livid is not the word! I was mature for my age, beyond my years. On the surface not going to college sounds stupid, but there was so much else going on. It seemed like the best decision at the time.
Yeah, only you could make that decision, at the time, Rayelle! Kaye, I graduated from college in May 1983. I took my state nursing boards, in July 1983, so within that 2 month time period of graduating! I can't imagine taking my boards while wondering if I was going to go into labor! I've heard stories of people who got special dispensation to take all 4 tests right away, because they were in labor! LOL!
