I'm so thankful....
I have been very upset the past few weeks because my heat broke, and we are having to replace the entire unit. We don't really have the money, and are having to borrow it from my FIL. I have been so depressed about this because I was just starting to get ahead after my maternity leave. This morning, my dad came over to replace the unit. When he pulled out the old one, he saw just how badly damaged it was. We didn't have CO detectors (I just bought one today), and my dad said that if it the heater had worked, it would have polluted my house with CO. We wouldn't have known, and we could have all died. My dad looked like he was tearing up when he told me. So I am so grateful and thanking God right now that my heater broke, because the alternative would be much worse that a couple thousand dollars.
Like the saying goes...God works in mysterious ways! I'm so happy for all of you that your heater broke!
Jennifer, I have a three very dear friends (mom and two of her four kids) that came so very close to dying two and a half years ago from CO2 poisoning. There's a member on this board that did lose family members to it a couple years ago. I can totally understand your dad tearing up. God was certainly watching out for you.
Wow!
What a blessing in disquise!!
Aw, Jen...I'm tearing up just reading this! I'm so thankful for your heater breaking too!!! On a side note, we just had a gas line put into our house for a new gas stove and that was one of the first things I bought...a Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector. They are SO important! I'm glad you guys are ok...
Holy cow. I'm glad you are all okay, even if it is expensive. We only put a CO detector in our house, this past year. It's been very quiet, though. We have our furnace inspected every year, too, to be on the safe side.
Praise The Lord !! Times like this makes you feel real humble !!
I'm so glad you are all okay, Jennifer.
Another one for, Thanks to God.. Glad it broke and I am glad you are out of the money.
Thanks ladies... I will never go without a CO detector again, that's for sure!
In the long run, that $2000 is not a drop in the bucket, compared to your family's lives, is it? Sorry your heater broke, but glad you had this outcome!
Wow, He does work in mysterious ways! My boss and his family almost died because of the CO in the house. Someone found them all unconcious, if they had been even 10 minutes later, who knows what would have happened? My boss was in a coma for weeks, his other family members were too. Again, thank goodness that the heater broke!
