The bathroom work has begun !!!
The guy is here working on it now. He is ripping the floor up. It feels SO WEIRD having someone in my house with me, that I don;t know!!!! He seems ok, easy to talk to. We only have one bathroom, so I guess I'll be making some trips to Shoneys to borrow their bathroom! If it is going to take a few days, the landlord said she would have a porta-potty brought out. Won't that be hillarious ! We may have to get a motel room if the smell is too bad.
I am glad you are getting the repairs made. I can totally relate to having someone strange in the house. For 11 months in CR we had workers in our houses constantly. Much of the time I couldn't leave and I certainly couldn't relax. (always worried about people stealing from you there)The first 6 months we listened to repeated hammering echoing through the house as they repaired tile floors... Have I mentioned I am happy to be home??????? LOL And so are the kids! Can you go stay with a friend Wanda??
No, DH doesn't feel comfortable staying with anyone.I thought we may even be able to sleep her, and shower somewhere else tommorrow. But the stench is too strong, so we are off to a motel in a few minutes. I HATE spending so much money just to sleep there!! But I guess I will actually have to stay there during the day, too. It looks like there is more damage to the bathroom than expected. So,this will probably take longer than expected.UUG !!!
Wandilu, check your lease and check with your municipal government offices. Perhaps there is something in the lease or the laws that will require your landlord to pay for you to stay in the motel while your premises are uninhabitable. I know in Pennsylvania there is something called a presumption of habilitibility and something called "quiet enjoyment", which means you can live in the place you rented without disruption and without the kinds of problems you are having. In a case like yours I'm fairly sure in Pennsylvania the landlord would be required to pay for a motel if there is only one bathroom and that is unusable.
