Sinus problems

Anybody ever have a sinus infection, without other symptoms?
I have a drs appt tomorrow morning. I am not one to go to the dr easily. I am one of those people who hardly ever go thinking there is nothing really wrong with me.

I have had these headaches/pressure behind my eyes, cheekbones...I have this constant pressure in my head(Well on and off)for the last 2 weeks. When it first started weeks ago, I thought it was a Migraine, but it didnt respond well to the Imitrex. It was like it never left. When I bend over, I can feel the pressure worse. I have taken some otc sinus stuff, it really does not work, barely relieves some pressure.

I guess I confused because I have no cold symptoms. I do not have a stuffy nose, I have no cough. I actually feel ok, except for my head and the pressure. All I want to do is lay down. I know that is not good. There is so much I want to do each day, and I just feel bummed by my lack of motivation because of my head.

Anybody ever have a sinus infection without cold symptoms?

Yep, the BEST remedy for sinus is Neti Pot, or nasal irrigation! Ask your doc about them, they have been a "holistic" treatment and are now becoming a RX for docs because the work so well. Beware, the RX can run a couple hundred bucks, while a "neti pot" is about $20.00 and just as effective! I use it everyday and have not had an infection in 2 years, and I was a chronic sufferer before, and many of my friends have also started using them with great results! Good luck!

Definitely sounds like sinus to me. And, while I understand it works for Kym, I would strongly recommend you see an Ear/Nose/Throat specialist, or at least your primary care doctor. It could well be an infection, in which case an antibiotic might be in order. I know that clogged sinuses can cause ear problems, and in my case I developed a nice case of vertigo. I don't think self-diagnosis is a good idea.

I know my oldest son had infected sinuses - the ones below the nose and over the mouth, and they don't drain down, they drain up, so he had to have them drained, and it hurt like crazy, but it worked.

In the interim, try Sudafed, which is a non-drowsy medication specifically for sinus and sinus-type infections, but I do urge you to see a doctor.

And, honestly, Kym, I would be concerned about taking something every day for two years.

I have a drs appt tomorrow at 10:30. I have been taking Sudafed, and it only helps somewhat. That is what pushed me to the dr.

Oh boy, I wish all of our symptoms would go away!

I took Bradley to the doctor 3 weeks ago or so...His only symptom was a persistant headache. He had the headache for almost a week!! He did have a very low grade fever at one point during that week. They did blood work, xray, etc...and decided he had a slight sinus infection going on. The next week his nose ran like a faucet. His throat was so sore he couldn't swallow. Now he has developed a cough. argh!! NOW he is complaining his stomach hurts and he won't eat much. This all basically started out with a bad headache (so bad the doctor said it sounded like a migraine- but no history of those for us)

Blake has had some of the same symptoms and he slept for two days. OH... and he had a 24 hr bug where he was throwing up. argh

I won't mention all my symptoms. ROFL

(((HUGS))) It is miserable when you are the MOM and you feel bad. Don't miss that appt!!! I hope you feel better soon!

I had a sinus infection last winter for a couple of months or more. Mine was just the pressure and headache. I felt like I wanted to lay down but when I did lie down, I couldn't sleep for the pounding and the pain was worse when I was lying. Felt like my head wanted to explode. After one course of antibiotics I felt better but it came back within 2 weeks of finishing them. So dr did a CT sinus scan and it showed the infection along with some inflammation as well. So I was on antibiotics for several more weeks as well as oral steroids and a steroid inhaler. The over the counter stuff didn't help me much either. It took awhile to get rid of mine. Since then I have been drinking alot of water to keep my system flushed. I have never heard of a Neti Pot but will be checking into that.

Ginny, I'm sure you noticed that I told her to ask her doc about them, was not trying to have her self diagnose. As this in NOT a medicine I'm taking something every day, I'm simply washing my sinus cavity out everyday, keeping allergens and gunk out:)

Here is a great site to check out for information

Did you get to your Appt? How did it go?

By Jackie on Thursday, October 18, 2007 - 02:59 pm:

Ok, back from the dr. She said it did seem like I had a sinus infection. She gave me an antibiotic for 10 days. She also gave me a prescription for Flonase nasal spray. She said to use it for 10 days while on the antibiotic.

Honestly I forgot totally about asking about that nasal rinse thing LOL...After we talked about the sinus stuff, I started on my migraine stuff LOL...then from there we went to the flu shot. I normally never get the flu shot, its only been my 2nd time. I figured, what the heck, while I was there and my copay was already paid for, I decided to get it :)

I use Flonase when my sinuses act up and it works quite well - and doesn't keep me awake, as the Sudafed does if I take it after 2 p.m.
