Anyone use Mirena BC?
If so, what have been your side effects? What do you like or not like about it? If you use tampons, have you had problems with Mirena because of that? I'm considering changing B/C and would love to hear anyone's experience with this. THanks!
I am curious as well....I just turned 38, and my doctor has suggested I switch to the Mirena IUD from my pill (which I am perfectly happy with!) I have objected to IUDs in the past, because, as I understood them, they did not prevent conception...they only prevented implantation. I have a huge problem with that. However, my doctor says that since Mirena contains hormones, it also prevents conception. I would be very interested in other people's opinions and experiences with it (at the moment, I am pretty sure I'll keep taking my pills!
I have had one for almost 5 years and will get another one soon, most people have little to no bleeding with Mirena, at least after the first few months. You could wear a tampon with no problems if you needed to. There isn't anything, I don't like about it. I rarely have a period which is just icing on the cake!
my daughter just had one inserted in her ...she has not had kids and so she was put into labor of sorts and had cramps for about three days like she had never experienced and is now ok. it was reccomended to her over the rest to help her with regulating cramps. she called the dr and said if this is regulatin it then get it out ...dr tole her it will settle down in a few days ... she had been on depo for four years straight and the wightdrawal was like going into menopause with mood swings and loosin hair and crying and spottin at weird times and even lost her sex drive lol at 21 she said mom thats not a good thing... she had a menopause test taken and her hormones were 4 times wehre they should be at her age ... the dr explained it wiould settle down in time ... her boddy just going thru some changes ...
Yes you will loose your sex drive with depo. Depo is what they give convicts that have been convicted of rape, child molestation, and other sex crimes as they are released. Not all of them just some of them I think more repeat offenders get it then anyone else, it's given to them because it decreases your sex drive.
I've heard NOTHING good about Depo, so that's not even an option! I can't imagine going that route from all the bad stories I've heard. I'm not sure what we're going to do for now, but I liked the spontaneity of the pill and I miss that part of it. I will NOT take a B/C pill again though, that has officially decided and I was a loyal pill fan. As I've gotten older, it just makes my body feel worse and I'm done with it. We're going to talk about the Mirena option. I appreciate the input!
