Has anyone ever tried this type of fish? Dh's good friend went fishing on Sunday and caught this and some haddock. He gave us a bunch and I am not sure what to do with it. Supposedly tastes similar to pollock.

I've never tried it but I think it is very similar to haddock. Maybe try a fish chowder or bake in the oven in a foil steam pocket with veggies and your favorite spices.
I would love to have someone give me a fresh catch. :)

Colette, how did the fish turn out? How did you prepare it?

We went out last night so we are having it tonight. Dh is making "fish with brown sauce" - sounds disgusting but it's really good, I got him chinese cooking classes for his bday last year and this is one of the dishes. I think I am probably also going to do the ritz cracker thing with some of it and bake it and then maybe throw the rest in chowdah. My dad said it's usually what you get when you order scrod.

Let me know how it turns out. All of recipes sound tasty. :)

It was good. Tasted just like haddock. I did the ritz cracker thing for my fil and then dh did the fish and brown sauce for him and I. It was good. There wasn't as much of it as I thought, my fil requested I make fish chowder tomorrow so I need to get to the store and get some more fish.

I love fish chowder but have never made it from scratch. I usually only eat it when I can find the Snow's brand around here which is very seldom. Please share your recipe when you have a chance. :)
