2nd Grade Teachers
I hope there are some 2nd grade teachers here or even parents of second graders that might be able to help. My ds's teacher and I were talking last night and he would love to make contact with another second grade teacher in another state in the hopes of the children writing letters to each other as part of a writing assignment this year. I told him that I would ask on here. Ds's teacher has already noticed that while he has several math whizes in the class, many of the students do not enjoy writing so he is trying to come up with alternative ways to get the kids interested in writing. Anyone interested or know a teacher that might be interested in a project like this for their class? If so, please let me know! TIA
My son is in the 2nd grade. We live in rural Minnesota and many of his classmates are farmers. I think it would be a great experience. E mail me if interested. beckman family at newulm tel dot net. (No spaces). I'll be going on a long weekend but will check in on Monday. TIA
Thank you Theresa! I'm off to send you an email now. Also, I forgot to add in my op that we are in Georgia. Anyone else interested?

I am friends with my dd's 2nd grade teacher. They just started today, so I can ask some time this week. It sounds interesting to me.
Thank you, Rayelle! That would be great. Feel free to email me or even pass my email address on to your teacher friend and I will put her in contact with my ds's teacher. tunnia 2001 at yahoo dot com - without the spaces and the proper symbols. BTW, would you mind telling me what state you are in? I am going in to read to ds's class in the morning and will be talking to his teacher then.
My son's second grade class corresponded with a second grade class at another neighborhood elementary school within our school district, and in the spring before school got out they actually switched classes for a half day and had lunch together, so each student got to meet his/her penpal.
I haven't gotten to talk to her yet, but I will tomorrow at meet the teacher night. We are in Maryland, the western part no one hears about, lol! I think it is a great idea. Where are you so I can tell her?
Thanks again, Rayelle! We are in Georgia. I'd prefer to not say more on here since it's a public board and there are children that are not my own involved, but if you would like to email me with any questions I would be happy to provide all the details, along with mine and the teacher's names and contact info to take with you tomorrow night. My email addy is in my first post to you. I am working tomorrow, so it will be after 3pm before I will be able to check my email. BTW, my ex sister-in-law lives in MD in the Baltimore area. Or Ballmer as she used to pronounce it. LOL
Tunnia, I missed you were in Georgia in an earlier post! I emailed you!
