Costume Ideas...
I have a friend who always has a costume party for Halloween and I always make my own costume but this year I can't seem to think of anything original to make. Last year I was a washing machine. I would love something that no one else will be. Any ideas? I am willing to go pretty far to make a good costume. My oldest wants to be a peppermint or something like that.. i will make hers also. Thanks in advance.
What about a candy theme for your family with someone as a candy bar, your dd as a peppermint and someone else as a lollipop or candy corn? You'd look adorable together and it could be as simple or complicated to make as you'd like.
One year my friend went as a juice box and I was a twisty straw. Those costumes were a major PITB to make and wear. LOL!
Is this an adults only party or family party? My sister once went to a party where someone dressed a Titanic "victim" she colored herself blue to make it look like she froze, and she wore a life vest. I know it's gross, that's why i asked if it was a family party or not.
I LOVE the idea of the whole family being different kinds of candy!! I'm terrible on doing something original for Halloween. DH and I went as a pizza (DH) and a pizza cutter (me) one year. I made a huge circle of cardboard wrapped in aluminum foil with a circle in the middle for my face. I attached a piece of elastic on the back and wore it around my head, then dressed in all gray, silver, and painted my visible face with silver paint. DH wore a large circle of cardboard decorated front and back like a pizza. It went over his head so there was one circle on each side of him. It was fun, but again, I'm NO good at original Halloween costumes. Love the family theme though!
I think that the candy idea is cute too! My family goes to a family-friendly Halloween costume party too and it is so much fun, but dh and I are also having a hard time coming up with costume ideas this year. I thought it would be funny to go as Greg and Marsha Brady this year, but dh said "No way, no how!". Last year dh went as Joe Dirt and was great! There was a couple at the party who had never met us before and they didn't know it was a costume at first. LOL I went as Goth Girl and the costume turned out good. Several people who know me well didn't recognize me at first and it was hilarious when they finally realized it was me.
My friends and I were "Duct Tape Warriors" in high school our senior year...cheapest outfit I ever had! We used cut off sweats and made shields/swords out of cardboard and duct tape. LOL I even made a mask with it and stuck it to itself and cut out eye holes. Ha ha ha!
This is not a family friendly halloween party, just adults but nothing too "adult" if you kwim. These are people I work with so cute is great and gory is even okay but nothing too revealing or anything. I will also wear my costume to either hand out candy or go trick or treating with my kids this year. I also normally wear my costume to work. So it gets more than just one nights use. I thought about doing the whole goth thing this year and even figuring out a way to dye my hair black with a streak of color in it but I don't know if I will do that. The biggest problem with that is the party is on the 27th and I don't want black hair for that long and it is a lot of trouble to do it twice. I was a candy bar a few years back and really like to try to come up with new things every year. I have actually thought about being a car wreck victim or something and going in "blood soaked" clothes and bandages. or something like that. Halloween is my favorite holiday except for Christmas so I like to go all out.
