I got a job!!!
Wednesday morning, DH and I decided that I really needed to get a job and this was good timing since all three of my dks are in school all day this fall. Wednesday evening, my best friend called and mentioned that the preschool her ds attends was looking for a teacher and that it might be a good fit for me. I called Thursday morning, interviewed an hour and a half later, was offered the job an hour after that and went to the "Getting to Know You" dinner that night. It's a mile away, I'll leave each morning at the same time my dks go to school and be off two hours before they get home each day so I can still run errands, clean the house or take a nap. I can't believe how perfectly this all worked out. I'm really excited about working with the kids and my coworkers seem great. Now I've got to figure out how working moms do everything I was already doing with much less time each day. How do you do it???
Congrats!!!! It sounds like a great job, and perfect for you right now! Don't worry about having less time, you get into a routine, and learn not to worry if the house is a mess, or having to quick-fix dinner.
Crystal is right - the first thing you have to do is learn not to worry about some things. The trick is to prioritize, and to recognize that some things may not get done as often. With all of you gone for several hours a day, there is less time to mess up the house - though of course, it will still happen. You will have to learn that your kids will have to learn to help, and you will have to (a) teach them how to do things properly and (b) teach them that helping out with picking up messes (and not making so many messes) is part of sharing life in a family. In the long run, your kids are not going to remember how many times you mopped the floor each week. They will remember whether you tucked them in and kissed them every night. Kids generally have their priorities pretty straight.
That sounds like a perfect job
Congratulations!!! Just remember the crock pot is your friend.
Congratulations! I hope you like it! Ditto Crystal and Ginny.
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Good news...
Congratulations!
Sounds like a great job! Congratulations. I would especially like the part about having two hours to myself before the dks come home!
Congratulations!
Congrats! It sounds just perfect. I am sure things will be a little crazy in the beginning. But, I bet you will fall into a routine in no time.
Congratulations! Ditto the above advice. Also, I don't know what your housekeeping style is, but I found it easier to spend a weekend getting my house perfectly clean and neat - and then every day making sure all the little messes were cleaned up. This way, a little bit of everything gets done each day and the place always looks great! I also made up a schedule of what gets done and when. This way if it's Tuesday then I know what routine tasks are expeted. It took a little while, but it made a big difference. Good luck! Ame
You'll figure it all out. Very exciting for you!
Thanks everyone! I'm sure I will figure it out. I know that I'll have to let some things go but I feel like it's all so important right now. I'm really looking forward to being out in the workforce again...I think.
Congratulations!!! It does sound like a perfect fit. Everything will come together. One day at a time.
Congratulations Tink! And don't worry about trying to keep up with chores at home. Just enjoy this time.
