Fuming mad alittle long

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2007: Fuming mad alittle long
By Shann on Sunday, August 5, 2007 - 12:39 am:

My Mom took my dk out today and bought them all new shoes for school. She took them to volume(payless shoes) well oldest dd bought some tennis shoes looking things they are the new style of shoes. We all decide to go to wal_mart dd puts on her new shoes and we are in there for maybe 30 min and dd has huge blisters on the backs of her hills and she says Mom they hurt my feet bad so I didn't want dd walking around wal_mart with out shoes so I tell her to pull her feet back and walk with her hills out. I take her back to Volume and explained to the lady what was wrong she looks at the shoes and looks at dd and says do you ever wash you feet and I said what they shoes looked brand new no scuffs nothing she begins to go on about how they were pushed down in the back and I explained to her what I told dd to do she says well I would have just made her go barefoot. Which there is a huge sign at walmart you must wear shoes and I told her that I wasn't going to let dd go barefoot. She then says well I would have sent her to the car. I was fuming and said what I am suppose to send my 12 year old daughter out to the car by herself and the way the world is today and I said I dont' think so and my dd was more important than a pair of shoes. She goes on to say well she should have just wore them and took them off in the car I have wore shoes that hurt my feet. I told her that my daughter wasn't her and I wanted my money back and to talk to the manager and I wanted a corprate number to call. She says I am the manager and we don't have a corprate number. I was so mad and told her she was a poor excuse for a manager and that she would give me the coprates number because they had to have one. She gives me this number and I call and it was a number for some other company totaly different than the shoe stores and I was so mad got on the internet find the number and talked to a very nice lady who said her comments should of been kept to herself and that was uncalled for. she appologized and took all my info. I couldn't believe it.

I totally agree- It was extremely inappropriate of the manager to argue with you. Customer satisfaction should be top priority and instead she was more worried about the condition of the shoes and whether or not they could be resold.

When she said to dd, "Do you ever wash your feet?" I would have said, "Excuse me? That is irrelevant. We came back because we are not satisfied with the quality of this product and we require a refund." Had she still persisted, I would then have asked her who HER boss was so that I could come back in at a time when that person was there and get the shoes returned AND inform that person that the manager was extremely rude and lacks adequate people skills to reflect positively on the store.

I would not have allowed the transaction to degrade into an argument over your dd. In the future, try to remember that the trick is first to remain calm, since customers usually will get the very same attitude they give, and second, to take control of the conversation away from the other person. Rather than allowing the manager to focus on your dd, I would have kept the focus on your dissatisfaction with the shoes as well as the need for a refund.

But yes, the little twit needs her head pinched off. :) Good luck getting your money back! Let us know how it goes.

That is so inappropriate!! I don't blame you for being mad, I would have been furious, too!

This lady should not be in sales. Not sure where she should be, but certainly not working with the public.:-(

Was the inside dirty from your daughter's feet? Did she not wear socks with the sneakers? I am just wondering if they could be re-sold?
Now--I am NOT saying the salesperson should have talked to you that way! She was RUDE!

Yvonne I understand that the manager was wondering about being able to re-sell the shoes. It's just that IMO customer satisfaction should come first. If the shoes couldn't be re-sold, then they will have to be written off as damaged merchandise. Happy customers will come back and that's what keeps a business in business.

We rented a video game one time from a little video store and when we got it home we noticed that the disc had been damaged. It still worked, so we played it and took it back at the end of our rental period. Then the next day I got a call from the manager of the store. He said that the game was damaged and that I was responsible for replacing the game and I couldn't lie about it because he knew that I was the last one to have rented it.

He wanted me to pay twice as much as the game was worth in addition to the fact that movie and game rental is a business in which the risk of loss is naturally high and damage to items is bound to happen. Needless to say, he hasn't gotten his money and I haven't been back.
