I have 2 garage doors and we would like to remove the beam that is between them and just put in one big door.

Our question is how do we find out if it is load bearing?

The reason we are asking now is because I had a very bad morning and while arguing with my 12 year old I thought I had already opened the garage door and I backed into it.

I feel like a complete idiot! The car isn't hurt at all but the door has to be replaced and we can't replace one without replacing both so we thought now would be as good of time as any to see what it would take to remove the beam and have just one door.

I would call a garage door company and have them come out and look at it. They would know if it would be possible or not. I would think they would come for free.

That would be the best thing! We can't really answer your question, sight unseen and we aren't garage door experts, either! LOL!
