We had a wonderful time at the ocean. My aunt lives about 25 minutes away, so we stayed at her beautiful new home. I live in a rinky dink small town, so the change of scenery was great. The kids found shells and played in the waves forever. The weather was absolutely perfect! I think Kings Dominion needs to do some updating, but most of what made that disappointing is not the park's fault. It was sticky hot and humid to be waiting forever in lines. The kids were whiny and my vacation patience were about spent. My main motivation for going there is that ds loves roller coasters and dd loves Dora. All 3 like rides and Spongebob. Dd was scared to death of Dora. Ds rode one roller coaster and it must have just been too much for him because it scared him and he didn't want to ride anymore. Not riding roller coasters or meeting/greeting with Nick characters pretty much took out anything that made the park different and we went home after a few hours.
I'm glad the beach was great! I still haven't been to an ocean in the states. We went in Panama, but it's different (it was a black sand beach--HOT!). One day. Sorry about Kings Dominion. It's hard when you're all hyped up for something like that and it doesn't meet expectations. I had to lol about your dd being afraid of Dora, though!
Well, I am glad you had a safe trip... It is hard to have a good time when things aren't working out the way you had hoped.. I prefer going to things like that in the spring and fall.. Like the state fair is going on right now, with temps in the 90's, no way will you find me there. BUT we do go to our local fair, first week of July, and a few of our street fairs, one is in the spring and fall.. I am not about being hot and having to stand in a line with a lot of other HOT people.. Hopefully, you are able to laugh about this one day.. Big hugs..
I'm sorry it wasn't quite what you expected. Having to wait in line, in hot/humid weather, would about do me in, too! The beach sounds like fun, though! Our county fair, is always Labor Day weekend. It's usually nice. The Wisconsin State Fair starts tomorrow. We are in the midst of hot/humid 90's now! I can't imagine going to it. We went a few years ago and it was soooo crowded, that I spent the whole trip there, doing head counts to make sure we had everybody! I like the county fair better.
