I spoke with you a while back about adopting another dog...not sure if you remember. Well we are ready and we are starting to look around. We are thinking about doing it in mid August. We have contacted Rottweiler Rescue in LA and we may have some dogs there to look at.

The reason I am contacting you is to see if you have any young Rotties or just give you a heads up incase any come your way. I would also be interested in an American Mastiff if you come across one of those in a shelter.

Either dog needs to be a Male and needs to be younger than 1 year of age. We have a 6.5 year old Rottie now and we have small childen and a cat so I want a young dog.

Oh my gosh Andi, how exciting for you! I just had an amazing American Mastiff that was under a year. Its the first time that I had one, so I doubt another will come my way. I work with Mastiff rescue so I will let them know. As far as Rotties go, their a dime a dozen at the shelter. Its so sad. I grew up with them and have a soft spot. I will keep a look out for a male, under a year (I think you should go under six months) Rottie for you.

Thank you! We will be in Hawaii for a week coming up in a few days here so we won't be ready until we get back. I'm thinking mid August.
I really want an American Mastiff and DH really wants another Rottie so we shall see who wins. LOL

I've been looking at Gentle Giants web site (for a mastiff) but haven't seen aything. We have a few Rotties we want to look at when we go to LA at the Rottie rescue.

I've said this before - our Sascha, a Rottie, is a joy and delight (and holds the couch down perfectly). I'm sure you know, Andi, having had experience with Rotties and mastiffs in general, that they are really prone to hip problems, and you will need to watch out for that. We paid about $6,000 for surgery to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in both hind legs for Sascha, and she has been on pain medication that costs about $100 a month for the past 18 months.

We know Vet Bills are out there and we know it's a chance you take with a lage breed dog. Since Chyanne has Luppus and Addisons I know just from that how much vet bills can be. Plus the $120 a month for her shot to keep her alive from the Addisons.

We are Large Breed People and I can't wait to add to our family. The kids are very excited and I hope Chyanne will feel the same when we get her a " Little Brother".
