So frustrated!
I am so annoyed. My lawn is so overgrown. We had a severe drought, followed by a week of rain, and now my grass is out of control. My husband has no time to mow it, so I had my mom come over to watch the boys so I could do it myself. And the lawn mower won't start. So, yesterday I called several ads from the paper to pay someone to do it for me. Only one guy called me back, he said he would be here either that afternoon, or this morning. And I haven't seen or heard from him since. My yard is so bad that I don't want to go outside cause I don't want anyone to see that I live here, lol! But I can't get anyone to call me back!
Jennifer, I am right there with you! My lawn is too damp in the am to mow and every afternoon it rains! Of course, it's a million degrees mid-afternoon or I'm out with the kids! The weeds in my garden are killing me! Plus I saw a snake in the garden.... And my weed-wacker keeps choking up! UUghh...I would like yardwork if everything worked LOL Good luck trying to find someone during the season. Most businesses already have their contracts locked in for the summer. The house next door to me is for sale. Every so often a little old man, a professional, comes to mow it. When I catch him I pay him $20 plus tip to mow my front and edge. It takes him 15 minutes, tops, to do this for me. Could you talk to someone mowing a neighbor's lawn to do your for you? It takes them no time at all and the money goes directly to them. Just a thought....
There's gotta be a teenager around who would do it and could use the money.
I'm sorry you can't find anyone to do it. Could you inquire at your church, if someone could do it? After we had our basement flood, in 1998, when hubby finally did have some time off, I wanted him in the basement with me, going through stuff, rather than mowing the lawn. I said something at church, when someone asked if I needed help, that I really wanted help mowing the lawn, not going through my stuff. So, the church secretary sent over her husband to do it. He did such a nice job and weedwhacked and swept up. Our yard never looked so nice! He really went above and beyond the call of duty.
LOL! I hate living in a small town too. Cause people see you in the Piggly Wiggly and want to know if you been outta town or what? Why is your grass so tall?
I feel your pain. Dh works alot of hours and doesn't have time to do the lawn all the time. But last year every time I would start, I would have trouble with one thing or another. So I made a big declaration, (I was tired, angry and VERYYYY frustrated) that he had 3 options. One, mow the yard every time it needed it. Two, I did not mind mowing, but he would either have to keep everything functioning or buy me something I can start and use. Or three, hire it to be mowed. He put a new battery in the riding mower and bought a new push mower and weed eater that I can use. LOL I really don't mind.
We have not mowed our lawn in weeks! It's so dry, we water but not that much because we don't want to get a huge water bill. So it's dry and ugly, but at least we don't have to mow!
DH has mowed our grass 3 times since spring. It is so dry here that our grass is not growing.. He is loving it.. I however hate the yellow grass.. Normally he would have to mow once if not twice a week by this time of the year... Ohio weather is really jacked up...
We mow usually twice a week, but we also have our lawn treated which makes it grow like crazy. It's been a bit dry here lately, so only once a week at the moment. I've always been the "mower" in our family! LOL I love mowing. It's therapy for me. DH does the trimmer, but I do the majority of the yardwork overall. I love it. I hated not being able to mow when I was pregnant! LOL
