Outer Banks
Well, we leave in a week to spend a week in Kill Devil Hills. We are renting a house on the beach with another family. They have been there before, but we haven't. I'm excited! It seems everyone that has been there loves it. So, has anyone BTDT and have any "must-do" activities or restaurants? All the kids are older, my dks are the youngest at 14 and 17. Ds wants to do go carts. I'm assuming a lot of our time will be on the beach, at the pool, or in the hot tub!
Have fun, but remember your sunscreen!
We pretty much live there during the summer. It is a very relaxing place. it is my absolute favorite place to. We save one day a week for shopping and eat out 2 nites a week. We are on the beach from sun up until sun down. Other than the beach there really isn't much to do beside shop, eat and putt putt. If you like an all you can eat seafood buffet, Jimmys is the best but get there early (3:30) they open at 4 and the wait is crazy long if you wait any later. The black pelican is also one of our favs. We shop all the surf shops and Kitty Hawk sports which is right across the road from Jockeys Ridge ~ The largest constantly moving sand dunes. If it isn't to HOT you may want to walk Jockeys Ridge. There is also the Wright Brothers Monument and Museum if you are interested in the first flight. Shopping is also good in Duck but go mid week when traffic isn't bad going in and out as it is only one way in one way out. If you are coming through Jarvisburg the Cottin Gin is also nice. Whatever you plan on doing I am sure you will have a relaxing time and ditto on the sun screen.
You will definitely like the Outer Banks. I've been there many times and and it's just so relaxing and beautiful. JMO, the beach is nice to play on but the water seems to be a little rough to actually swim in once you get past your knees. We stayed in Duck one time, and then the rest of the time we stayed in Corolla. They have a really cool restaurant called Mako Mikes which has really good food. (I think it's in the Nags Head area) It's been a few years since we've been there and I really miss it. Have a great time!
Where is the Outer Banks? I live in rural Minnesota and have never heard of it. We are always looking for a fun place to go. TIA
It's in North Carolina
