Sarah's Graduation
We all survived it. I didn't cry, except for a few teary moments, during the speeches given by the class presidents. They were both good speakers and I enjoyed the speeches. At the ceremony was Emily, playing flute with the band, for a short concert, before the ceremony and then processional music and one song, when it was over, Gary and me, my mom and dad, my SIL, my other SIL and BIL, my friend Edie and her husband Ted, and my uncle. The ceremony lasted about 2-1/2 hours to graduate 726 kids! Both high schools graduate together. Then we came back to the house, for burgers and brats. We had lots of fruit, carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower, cheese/sausage/crackers, and a pasta salad that my one SIL brought. It was all so good. Sometimes, when you buy fruit, it doesn't taste all that good. Everything we picked out yesterday was perfect! I had all the fruit separate, because too many people have different likes and dislikes (cantelope, honeydew, peaches, grapes, kiwi, strawberries, and raspberries.) We bought a small watermelon, too, but ended up never cutting it up. We don't have a lot of leftovers, so it must have been just the right amount of food. Sheboygan is right next to Lake Michigan. It's often "cooler near the lake!" The park where graduation is held, is RIGHT next to the lake! So, warm weather can be iffy. When I've been there before, for graduations, I think I've been more bundled up. We had temps in the 70's and cool breezes were minimal. We didn't need jackets. It was lovely! Then we went into a cool evening, as the sun went down - windows open and no AC! So, people were inside the house and outside the house talking! Some of us ate outside. Good grief. I almost had no idea we really had all those lawn chairs, because we hardly ever use them all at once! So, Sarah is at the city-wide graduation party right now, being held at a bowling alley, from 8pm, until 1am. She went around 9pm, after getting a call from one of her friends. Everything is free, so that's cool! It's a good way to keep them safe tonight! She hauled, on money in cards today. It will help pay for college, plus a few necklaces, a purple stapler, with purple staples, and we will be buying her a flat screen monitor, because they take up much less room on a small college desk. It was nice having the family there. My 2 sisters were busy earlier in the day, and only came for the party afterwards, and my niece and her fiance came later, too, because she had to work, so we had a houseful. Oh yeah, Jasmine was reasonably good around all these new people! She was remembering for the most part, not to jump, but did need some reminders and was even able to settle down after awhile. With all these new sucke..., I mean people in her house, though, we crated her, while we were eating, because she would have played everyone, for a handout. She knows I will only give her something, when I'm done, but DH is a much easier subject. I didn't want her begging all these new people for a handout. Crates are nice and she will stay in there and be quiet, even if she's not happy about being in there. I let her out, when the food was gone again!
It sounded like a nice day It's nice when everything comes together....Did Sarah have a nice time at her party?
Yes, she did. She and her friends bowled 3 games and then she wanted to be picked up. I think we were all trashed, by the time we picked her up and could finally go to bed.
I'm glad she had a good time. We were all trashed last night too.We all did the 5k Walk for Miracles for Wal-Mart yesterday and it was HOT,so needless to say we were all in bed early last night lol
Sounds like she had a good time. I like the bowling party idea, gives them all somewhere to go!
Sounds like a wonderful day!!
Congratulations!! What a big day
Awwwwwwww Dawn, it all sounds so great and so bittersweet at the same time. Congratulations to Sarah!
OH MY how they grow up sooooo fast! Congrats on your graduate, it is so exciting.
Congratulations to Sarah! What a proud moment for your family. It must have been special having Emily perform at the ceremony.
But did anyone go in the garage????? Congratulations Sarah!!! I am so glad you had such a beautiful day.
Congratulations. Sounds like everything turned out wonderfully. LOL Melanie, I was thinking the same thing.
Yes, Sarah saw all the guys, in the garage, admiring the new Craftsman tool chest! LOL! For a while, all the guys were outside, by the grill and all the women were in the kitchen talking. Don't the women always end up in the kitchen, while everything's getting ready? My kitchen is small, though, so everyone was standing around the edges. My one SIL had already cut the buns, by the time I got home and my other SIL helped me cut up the veggies and fruit. Aren't they nice?
That sounds like a typical party, guys around the grill or garage and women in the kitchen or around the table... I am sooooo glad she had a good day... See you were able to keep it together too... LOL Very proud of you both.. LOL /clipart{wink}
Sounds like a great party. So glad she enjoyed her special day. Congratulations, Sarah!
Thanks, everyone!
