Another money question
I have a class from the 19th-22nd (Tue-Fri) this month. I've asked a young friend of ours (18yo, etremely responsible, trustworthy and just all around great young man) to pick Randy up from summer school and bring him home. *J* lives about 10 minutes from the school and we're 15 minutes from it, and then we're about 15 minutes from *J*'s house. I've already told him I'll pay him for his time and gas. I figure it'll take about an hour unless the kids talk his ear off and he hangs out here for a bit (totally okay, the kids both really like him). He said he's do it for nothing but I told him I insist. SO, I'll figure out how much gas will be but how much should I pay him for his time? It's not like he's "babysitting". Heck, I don't even know the going rate for that around here! lol Would $10 an hour be good? That'd be $40 plus gas for the four days. What do you think?
Anyone???
That sounds fair to me, and it would really help you out, It would also be company for part of the drive!
I think that's a fair price. He is disrupting his day to do it at a set time each day so I agree he should be compensated. If he refuses the money, I'd get him a gift card to a gas station or a store he likes. I don't know how much gas it will take or how pricey it is out there, but perhaps an even $50 would be good.
Thanx. I was thinking about $50. If he won't take cash I'll get him a gift card to Barnes and Noble (his favorite store) or a Visa gift card or something. We were talking about it tonight and he's actually willing to pick Randy up, come out here, pick up Robin and take them to his house on Tuesday and Thursday so they won't have to miss karate (I can get them there Wed and we don't have class Fri, and I can pick them up Tues and Thurs). He's got two little brothers and a little sister, so two more kids in the house will be nothing! lol His mom is great, too and I know she wouldn't mind. The youngest is between Robin and Randy's ages and they get along great. We'll see what happens but I'll give him at least $50.
That would work out so well, for you!
