I missed the episode about the plane crash. Is Nick really dead? I had read that the guy that plays Nick has been thinking about quitting.So soon after Drew died. Seems like they are "killing" off all the regulars ( Cassie, and John Abbott ).Pretty soon there won't be a lot of familiar people left.It's getting so changed around, I just don't watch it like I used too.
I recently read that he has renewed a long term contract, so I'm sure he'll be back before long. It was such an emotional week!! What I hate about this story line is how Nikki is right back at work and going on like nothing happened. That is NOT how a parent reacts after their child has died! Victor's acting was incredible during the week of the death.
I'm also sure Dru will be back one day. Whenever a body isn't found, it's pretty safe to assume that person will one day wander back.
It's funny how you mentioned it not being the same as it used to be, so you don't watch it the same. When I first started watching, in the 70's, it was a whole different cast. The 2 main families aren't even on the show anymore, except for Jill (Foster), and Nikki, who was married to Jill's brother. My dad watched it with us, and he swore the show wouldn't be able to go on without Laurie Prentiss. Well, it sure did go on. 
I started watching Y & R the first day it came on.....AHHHHHHH Snaper was a hunk!
Nikki was married to Jill's brother??!! That sounds so weird Wasn't she a stripper when Victor met her? Was she married to the other guy at that time? So Nick did renew his contract? The last I read, he was undecided about continueing on.I think it was a money dispute. It also said that Sharon might not stay on.Have you noticed that the younger people just seem to catch up, age wise, with the older actors. Jack was Nick's step-father, and now he's married to Sharon, which should put him WAYYYYY older than her.It's the same as if she had married her x-husbands father !! And Phyllis is bound to be wayyyy older than Nick.
Ya, and Ashley is now on the Bold and the Beautiful, and she's wanting to date Rick Forrester, who could easily be her son. At least they acknowledged that fact. Crazy!
Yes, Nikki was married to Greg, one of Jill's 2 brothers. She also dated Paul when he first came on the show. She's been married to several different guys. When she was a stripper, I think she was with some gangster guy. She was married to a guy named Kevin when she got pregnant with Victoria, and they didn't know she was Victor's daughter for a while.
My big question is, after wanting a child for so long, why is Paul's son living with (can't think of Gabriella's name on the Y&R right now)'s parents instead of him? Like Lauren's Scott, he'll come back as a grown man. The same thing is about to happen with Victor Jr. And what about Jack's 2 sons?? Crazy show!

I loved the old story lines with Luke, Lance, Laurie and Leslie, and wicked Vanessa!!! Katherine Chancellor looks better now than she did way back then!
I remember when that show first came on. GEEZ! LOL, Yes, the original Snapper was definitely a HUNK!
When Nikki was a stipper, Darlene Conley played a madam or something, she's been on The B & B for a number of years as Sally Spectra, she passed away a few months ago.
Originally the storyline centered around 4 sisters, the youngest of whom was Tracy, who was later married to and had a child with Brad; the oldest Chris, who was married to Snapper, then Laurie and Meg; and the Chancellors and of course, Jill and her family.
Laurie was married to Lance Prentiss, the guy who is now Eric Forrester on The B & B.
Ashley and Rick Forrester had a fling when Rick was running the B&B fashion house in Paris and Ashley was living/working in Paris. Now she is developing a perfume for the Forresters and I'm sure would love to resume where she left off with Rick.
OH, and some years back, Katherine Chancellor had a face lift that was incorporated into the show. Lord knows how many she's *really* had.
Amazing how these cheesy shows have their characters switch between the shows! LOL Lauren Fenmore frequently moves between Y&R and B&B
NO, I don't watch these shows religiously. Actually, I don't watch Y&R at all, but I watch B&B sometimes on my lunch break.

Darlene Connely played Rose DeVille. She also kidnapped Nina's baby and told her he had died. What a character she was on both shows!
That was a gutsy thing Jeanne Cooper did when she had that facelift on the show!
Traci wasn't part of the Brooks family, she is an Abbott. The other daughter in the Brooks family was Leslie, the pianist. She was married to Luke, Lance's brother.
OOPS, you are right Marcia, about Tracy - My BAD! Tracy also had a child with Brad - weren't they married too?
When Darlene Conley passed away several months ago, I read that it would somehow be acknowledged on the B&B, but so far, it hasn't. I know in recent months before she died, she was working for the Forresters and was often in a wheelchair or using a cane when she walked.
What a character that woman was. LOL
Now Ashley Abbott (Eilene Davidson) is on B&B working for - you guessed it, the Forresters, and surprise! She had a previous fling with Rick in Paris, and now that has been picked up again.
It's amazing how many of these characters/actors go between soaps.
Which brings me to another little tidbit - Shelley Hennig, former Miss Teen USA, who my kids went to school with and Jen danced with, is now on Days........ I have never watched that show, but I think I will, just to see if she can act.
Who does she play? I watch Days, too.
Just googled her, and she's Stephanie. She's just been in it for a few weeks. It's funny how they did that replacement. The girl who previously played the role was bigger than her and had red hair, and her character was pretty straight laced. She went away for a couple of months, and came back as this bad a** girl who would do anything for a thrill. They all commented on how much she had changed. No kidding.
Yeah, there was a write up in the local paper and an interview with her. She said when she intially read for the part, the producers told her she *wasn't exactly what they were looking for*. Then they called her back and offered her the job. In a week's time she relocated from NY to LA. She is graduating from The School for Film & Television in NY.
I've never watched Days... and it's funny that she's playing a bada$$ - that is so far from what she really is.

I am about 4 months behind on the show. I have about a dozen video tapes I am trying to get through. I am up to January when Katherine tells Jill that she stole the baby she had with Phillip.
I will check back here when I am all caught up.

She's been watching it since it first came on in 1973. We've both been die-hard fans, me since I was about 10 (1980) when Victor had someone caged up in a basement and he had Paul deliver food (sounds familiar-- Sheila!) and Jack married Paul's younger sis and sent her over the edge.
I remember when Sean had Lauren buried ALIVE !! Gosh,its been years since I watched a show.I can't afford to get hooked again lol
Victor had Michael, a different Michael, in the basement. Wow, that sure was a long time ago!

I spent some time on YouTube today. Just for kicks, I entered Young and Restless in the search bar, and found that someone recorded the first episode and put it up. If I remember right, when Y&R went on SoapNet, to celebrate either CBS.com or one of the big soap Websites did a net cast of the first ever Y&R episode for high-speed Internet download (probably cable only) so this person must have captured it then and put it up on YouTube. There are also some cool archival scenes with Lauren and Tracy and others.
And of course, some current ones, too, which I tried not to look at. ;-)
Oh man, I wish you wouldn't have mentioned the youtube thing!! I've been watching all sorts of old clips!! It is fun, though.
Marcia, you were right...Nick's back !! This is so much like the time Victor had a wreck , they thought he was dead, and had his funeral ! Except he had amnesia. Wonder why they never have brought Victor,Jr. into the story line.
Victor Jr will be back soon, I'm sure, since Victor is off looking for him right now.
I am up to May 1st or 2nd, the day of Nick and Phyllis' wedding. I had to spend an hour today getting hubby caught up. He hasn't watched the show since Cassie died!
It was a tear jerker today.
I can't contexst to ythis but my mother and grandmother toeld me that ai started watching the show whehI was 3. I am now 32, I am a die hard fan dont' miss an epiode, I tape the show daily.
I know that I was under 10, when this went one, but yeah I remember Darlene Connley on the show, she was a baby broker( I guess thats the proper term) yes stole Nina's baby and dtold her that the baby died.
Also remeber Trish and her sister ( can't recall her name) Jill used to be involved with there father and Trish was obsessed with Ryan, but Nina wanted hima dn bought him a sprots cr to win him. But Ryan ended Marrying Victoria andd Trisa shot him at the wedding.
Well youknwo that the gril that played her sister is Bridgett on B&B.

The dude in the basement was Victor's first wife's boyfriend, Michael Scott, I think. (Victor's first wife's name was Julia.) About that, the first thing I remember is that Victor hired Paul Williams to bring him food.
My favorite story of all time was Tracy Abbott and Danny Romalotti. I love Tracy! I have always been overweight, too, and I could so relate to her desire to be noticed by some guy who doesn't hardly know she exists. And then we found out she could sing, and she went on stage with him! WOW! I wish she would come back to the show for a while longer.
One thing I am noticing is that the scenes aren't very well timed. In one scene, Michael Baldwin is at Phylis and Nick's and in the very next scene we see him walking through the door of his own apartment. As if he just beamed back home in an instant.
Cocoabutter, I've noticed that myself.I missed yesterday.The last I saw,Nick was trying to get that woman to go and get help.They agreed that they would leave out the next morning to try and make it back home.That may have been Tues or Wed. Anyway, I tuned in today and there is Nik, in the hospital, and apparently most everyone (except Victoria ) has already seen him.So, now he doesn't remember Phyllis. I actually felt sorry for her today.Aren't they playing it up really big with the sad music?! I wonder how he feels that his "wife" is married to his step-father, the man that used to take him to his little league games...and is sort-of his kids grandfather !! Boy,,,can you tell I have WAYYYYYYY too much time on my hands right now !!!!! By the way...how many times has Nikki and Victor been married ? To other people and to each other ?
Nikki- Greg, Kevin, the guy at the strip joint (can't think of his name), Victor 3x's I think, Jack, Brad, I'm sure Paul at least proposed to her way back when, but they never got married. That's all I can think of for her.
Vicor - Julia, Nikki, Ashley, Nikki,Diane, Hope, Nikki, he slept with Jill for a while. I think that's it.
A plane or helicopter when over the place Nick was staying with the doc, and they were rescued.
I loved when Danny and Traci sang, too. I hated when Lauren sang with him. I really thought she sucked, and Traci had an amazing voice! Gina, too!
Trisha's sister was Meghan. It was funny to see her as a blond on B&B.
Yesterday's show was heartbreaking, when Nick was crying because he wanted Cassie. I feel pretty sorry for Phyllis right now, too.
I must admit that I really haven't watched the show in years bur read your posts and thought I would watch it the other day. How in the heck did Sharon end up with Jack??

So, I have one thing to say. If you ever get into a car accident, DO NOT under any circumstances, allow them to take you to Genoa City Memorial Hospital!
I mean, the staff at that hospital totally neglect their patients, especially in the Intensive Freaking Care Unit. First, they let Cassie just leave without even being noticed, and now KEVIN. Are these people BLIND????
I have been watching my Y&R tapes while I do dishes and fold laundry, while I pay bills and cut coupons, and while I dust and mop. It has taken me months to get caught up, but I am finally there! WHEW~!
Paula, Sharon started to become attracted to Jack because she so closely worked with him on NVP and he helped her through her recovery and grief after Dru died.
Kinda weird, now that Victoria is involved with JT. Another case of robbing the cradle. She's gotta be at least 15 years older than he is.
I think we needed a lot of new characters on the show. All the regular ones have already dated/slept with/married/divorced each other. Who's left?
I do NOT like what Gloria is doing with Will, and I do NOT like Amber at all, but she does add some excitement.
But I do like that Lilli and Daniel are facing their first trial as a married couple. They hopefully will grow through this.
I kind of liked Nick and Phyllis together, but I was sorry to see Nick and Sharon divorce. They were the only couple left that had never been divorced.
Although Gloria does some nasty stuff, I love her character. What a great actress!! I love Phyllis for the same reason.
Jack was using Sharon when they first hooked up, but seems to really love her now. That came through when he thought she died in the crash.
If you think they need new characters, check out the B&B! There are far fewer cast members, and people sleep their way through entire families and then back again. It's insane!

Victoria and JT are married in real life, I wonder if that will happen on the show too.
I have watched the show since I was 10, and I got behind a couple of years ago because we were trying to sell our house. It didn't sell, but I never got caught up. I have always been about 6 months behind, until now.
