I was home sick and alone this past weekend. I never watch TV during the day but my brain was on shutdown mode so I turned on ABC "Family". I must have missed the time warp in family entertainment. I know you're thinking your fault - you turned on the TV when you knew better - but I was sick.

Sixteen Candles was on - coming of age or at least turning 16 movie for a young girl.

I try to remain open minded for teen movies - this was appalling. Total gag reflex. Awful is too polite. The potty mouth, the back talk from younger children, the assumption that sleeping with someone is a rite of passage ..............AAGH!

Please tell me there are still somewhat decent movies for teens. I have a boy but the messages for teens and preteens in this movie and the ones I've seen on everything from Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon - they're so awful - I'm amazed.

I tried to put a review on the ABC Family website without success!!!!!

Linda, we are in the same boat. We try to find family movies to watch and what dh and I find is that there isn't much out there that meets our standards for family movies. A "G" rating isn't always a "G" rating, either. Needless to stay, we screen a lot.
