Moms View Message Board: Books, Movies and TV Shows: Dancing With the Stars - Season 5
OK, weigh in here, girls. Yes, it just started this week, but do you have a favorite couple? Or one you can't stand?
Okay, I'm going for the young meat - LOL!! I've never heard of Albert Reed before (apparently, he's a Model), but my goodness can this kid move and I found his humor to be quite hysterical!!
I thought that they were all fabulous for the first week! I thought Josie would be the one to go, or Wayne. It was a lot of fun to watch! I think it's going to be a great season!
At this point, I like Helio & Julianne, and Sabrina & Mark, and I also think Melanie & Maks are good. Actually, this year, there are so many good ones! I cannot STAND Wayne Newton, never could! And I don't really like Mark Cuban at all either, just my personal feelings, nothing to do with his dancing.
I like the race car driver the best on both nights. He is incredible for a new dancer or even a seasoned dancer. And his attitude is awesome.
Wow, what a night!! Helio is definitely standing out!! I also thought Marie was incredible last night!! I felt so bad when Derek Hough slipped on Jennie Garth's dress. I thought they just messed up until they showed the slo-mo replay and you could clearly see he had stepped on her dress.
Who wasn't glad to see Albert Reed go? LOL He wasn't half bad as a dancer, but I found him conceited and arrogant and very impressed with himself so for those reasons, I didn't like him.
ALbert got the boot? Isn't that the Amberkrombie Model? He was quite....fake looking. He was a bit too tan, he looked like Ken of Barbie and Ken LOL

I think everytime Dancing with the Stars gets an older person to partcipate I will always call him the Jerry Springer of Dancing with the Stars :D for some reason every old guy they have will remind me of Jerry.

Let's be honest - the guy can't dance. Some of us can, some can't - I'm in the *can't* group! LOL
I'm with you Karen, I could barely watch him dance it was just too funny!!!!! I'm also in the *can't* dance group.
Yeah, I'm a "can't" as well!! I've often wondered how I would do if I had a professional teacher like Maks or Tony etc. Still probably hopeless!!
Well since Wayne is gone...who do you think will get voted off next?

I agree Karen it's going to be very hard to guess who gets voted off next......Marie or Jane or Jennie are my guesses.
I think Mark will be gone.
I had forgotten about Mark and Cameron guess they are not making an impression on me. I agree Marcia bye bye Mark but it was a cute number they did last night and he is getting a tad bit better. Poor Marie how awful but the way she was breathing and such thank goodness she only fainted and nothing else.
I think Marie hyperventilated last night. Poor thing, kept apologizing for fainting.
I thought the same thing about Helio last night. These guys all seem to just let the girls dance around them, and they do a few moves only. It's all about the girls this season!

Marcia, I agree with one exception - Maks dances! The guy is *quite* easy on the eyes! :-)
Is it me, or does the fact that he's worth millions make him even cuter than he is, if that's possible!
Well, now we're left with 7 really good dancers!! The competition should get really fierce now. I was shocked that Jane Seymour was in the bottom two.
Mark reminds me of an old boyfriend I had in college. So, I would say he is cute even if he wasn't loaded. I wouldn't go as far to say eye candy, but certainly enjoyable to watch! I was shocked by the muscles in his arm at some point back. I would have never thought he had muscles, he just doesn't look the type.
Karen, I didn't mean the professional dancers. Those guys can move! The guy stars aren't great this year. Too bad, because the pro ladies are fun to watch.
OH - DUH! LOL A senior moment here.........please excuse! LOL You are right though. In the past, we've had Mario and Emmett, and Apolo and Joey - those guys could DANCE! Yes, definitely a different sort of season, for sure.
OH - and how could I forget Drew?!? He was great too!

I am just STUNNED!! I never saw that coming!! I thought for sure that Jane was outta there last night. Did you notice that Sabrina looked really uncomfortable all night? I wonder if she knew something was up?
I was/am in total shock !!!! I cannot believe the results.
Yup, complete shock here, too!! I think it proves that everyone really does need to vote. I'm guessing that people figured she'd get tons of votes, so voted for other people. I know I've done that each time. I voted for her, but didn't give her all of my votes.
I think it's a nervous habit of hers.........she talks about how nervous she is in front of the judges.
I keep thinking there was a glitch in the voting system. I still can figure how Sabrina came in so far behind. Jane and Marie should be heading home. They are doing well, but their not at the same level as the others. And even if popularity was the reason for votes, Sabrina should be pretty high up there. That is the ONLY way Billy Ray got as far as he did.
I agree with you Dana. How did the best dancer get voted off? But she is a Cheetah Girl and alot of people didn't know who she was. Her fan base isn't as big as the other female dancers.
At the risk of sounding rude.................YES!! Jane is gone!
And on another note - sad for Marie, huh? What a season this has been - 2 of the stars lost their parents, illnesses...........I shudder to think what might happen next.
Jane did look beautiful when she danced, but I found that all of her dances looked the same. It was certainly her time to leave.
Yeah, Jane's number was up. She danced so beautifully in the first several shows, but the fast dances she's performed the past two weeks just weren't as good.
Just found out that Sabrina is engaged to her dance partner from DWTS!
Ummmmmmmmm.......yeah..............how fast was THAT?!?
Thats the same thing I thought when I heard about it. What ever happened to just dating for a while?

Whose gonna go next???? Do you think Marie the popular or Mel the awesome dancer will win? I think Jennie will go next week. I'm finding the show not so much fun to watch anymore does anyone else feel this way? How much weight do you think Marie has lost? She looked very skinny yesterday compared to the night she fainted. Did you see the Marie doll on QVC? I think they called it the Samba doll, the doll is dressed in the same blue costume as Marie wore. It is cute!!!!
I think Jennie will go too, only because Marie has such a huge fan base and is so confident and funny/entertaining. I don't think Marie is a better dancer though, not by a long shot. She's lost something like 30 lbs., I read.
I agree, Karen. Mel is fantastic, and lately Helio is, too!

LOL Melanie! Cameron really got on my nerves, he appears to be a bit full of himself, which IMO is obnoxious, so he really rubbed me the wrong way.
Who do you think will be voted off tonight? Man, talk about close scores last night!!!
Do you think it will be Jennie?? She seemed kinda out of it last night or something. She didn't seem herself.
I agree Mel B. is a front runner but I just don't like her style or something. I don't know. I really like Marie and Jennie-I'm an old 90210 junkie.
As much as I like Marie, I'd like to see her go this week. I think Jennie has come such a long way that I would love to see her go to the finals. I have a hard time choosing between Mel and Helio as the final winner, but if I had to pick, I think I'd pick Mel.

You were right. I'm a little disgusted with the scoring method at this point. It just isn't fair. It shouldn't be about your fan base, it should be based on how good you dance. A couple seasons back, when Mario lost to Emmett, was a perfect example. Emmett was a good dancer, but Mario was by far a better dancer.
Although Marie isn't the best dancer, I enjoyed watching her more than Jennie. It seemed to be too much of an effort for Jennie. She always looked so tense to me.
I guess I just like Jennie. She HAS been tense, she's said a number of times she gets nervous dancing in front of the live audience. But the last 2 weeks, she's really made a breakthrough.
I agree that Sabrina was the best, and from week 1 it was obvious she was the winner to be. But, I don't think it's fair that they had someone who was already a dancer in the competition. Even though she dances hip hop, she still had great moves going into it, unlike anyone else. I think it was easier for her to learn the dances, because she is used to choreography.

Well, those were some pretty disappointing freestyles. Nothing like Mario!! Most of my votes went to Mel, even though I liked Helio's dance better tonight. I've loved her from the start! I did vote for him a couple of times, too. Can't wait for tomorrow!

What was that freestyle. Pretty lame. It was like they ran out of steam. Too bad.

Pretty disappointing, I agree. I like Helio and Mel. I think (hope) Mel will win it, thought my votes went to Helio. I just have a problem with Marie's fanbase putting her into the #1 spot, because she is not the best dancer, and last night proved it. Her freestyle was AWFUL.
I was so looking forward to the freestyle - remember that great dance that Drew Lachey and Cheryl did in the cowboy outfits? THAT was a WOW!
Drew & Cheryl were great, as were Karina & Mario, & Julianne & Apolo, there have been some fantastic freestyles in the past. *Really* anxious to see what tonight brings.

Woo Hoo! I was good with either Mel B or Helio winning, but Helio was my personal favorite. Go Helio!
I think Mel should have won, because she has been consistently great since the beginning. Helio was certainly my second choice of all, so it's all good.
There's been a lot on the TV news and the internet about how Marie was telling people to vote for her, on her website she sells her dolls on, and about how her family members have gone on talk shows and told people to vote for her.
I think the right person won. Mel (and Sabrina) came into the competition as strong dancers. They were good week in and week out. There is no doubt, they were fun to watch. But I like the stars who come in with no experience and get better and better every week to the point where they are super strong dancers by the end. We saw it with Helio this season, Apollo last season, Emmitt the season before...those are the ones I like to see win. I would be let down if the people who won these were the ones who came in with experience and, while they did work hard and improve, it could easily be predicted from the first show that they should win.
