Ratatouille

Moms View Message Board: Books, Movies and TV Shows: Ratatouille

The movie, not the dish made with eggplant and tomatoes, although it's yummy! It was very cute and rat is adorable as is his family, but there is some shooting, some car chases and you wonder if the rats are going to die in the sewer during a rainstorm, so I wonder if it would be a little too intense for younger, more sensitive members of your family. Even though it's animated, it seemed more like an adult movie.

There is a red-haired teenage kid in the movie, who I thought was probably a lot like DH when he was younger. He reported that he could really identify with this kid who's kind of scared of everyone, on the way home. (My DH has red hair, too!) He mentioned it was easier sometimes getting through life behind his camera, than it would have been if he'd had to face it head on! LOL!

The action did keep us on the edge of our seats, though, and there were scenes that were funny.

By the way, they always list way down in the credits all the names of the babies born during production. Well, there are a LOT of people needed to make an animated movie and the list of babies is LONG!

Dawn, I never noticed about the babies. I did not know that! :)

We took my 2 kidlets (8 and 10) last night. It was great. The theatre was full of all different age groups. Kids were laughing out loud as were some of us adults. It was a family friendly movie.

Babies born to whom? I'm lost!

The people behind the scenes who put the movie together. Animated movies take a long time to make and I think the average age of the employees is fairly young, so their are always babies born, while they are making the movies. If you stay for the credits, they always list production babies!

Gary and I are credit geeks and we always have to sit through them! LOL!

I have been wondering about this movie, thanks Dawn! I sit through the credits also. It drives the kids mad.....

My dad took the kids there today and they loved it.

I took my ds and his friends yesterday. I never thought I could feel compassion for a RAT! lol

We all thought it was great. It is such an original story. I was very impressed with how far Pixar has evolved since Toy Story. The animation was incredible.

The only part I didn't like was when the female chef caught the boy's shirt sleeve with her knives. I don't even know what the rating is on this movie. PG?

By Dawnk777 on Saturday, July 7, 2007 - 10:18 am:

It's rated "G".

By Annie2 on Saturday, July 7, 2007 - 10:19 am:

I just looked up the rating....G? I would have rated this one PG.

I think we might go to see this at the drive-in tonight. Evan Almighty is the second movie, but we never normally stay for 2. Sounds like it might be good, though. I didn't see the original, so have no idea. Movies like that usually bug me, but who knows???

By Dawnk777 on Saturday, July 7, 2007 - 02:24 pm:

My friends liked Evan Almighty! I would like to see that one.

I think that Ratatouille should have been PG, too!
