On the topic of cigarettes.....

Do you think that parents who subject their children to second-hand smoke should be fined or punished in some manner? I just heard a talk show about this today.
No. Smoking cigarettes is a personal choice and a legal activity. I understand the reasons behind the thinking, but parents should have enough sense to NOT smoke around their kids (or any kids) without the fear of fines or jail (didn't see the show, but it would make sense that jail time would be mentioned). If a law like this ever did pass, then where would it end? Would we then punish parents who let their kids eat fast food more than twice a week? After all, the typical fast food meal is unhealthy and an argument could be made that the parents were putting their children at risk for being overweight and the health risks associated with being obese. How much do we want the government in our house telling us how we should live our lives and raise our children? Punishment isn't the answer, education is. BTW- I'm curious what talk show you were watching. I never get to watch TV during the day anymore.
i think what truestori was refferin to was a lady lost her kid cuz she smoked in front of them is that a reason to loose ur kids... last week a judge did this ruling ... the kid is not asmthamtic (sp) has no health issues is a smart young man and enjoys sports and school and other than this she is a good mom ..... the show i watched said would u take him away from his mother knowing this ?is it legal ? didnt get to watch it ..was a commercial after thinking about this i think id have to wonder why she is isnt concerned for future health of the child ...and and why she would continue knowing this would harm her ...ive never smoked well one cigarrette and got caught and my hinnei tanned blue and then a cigar to smoke till i was green ....i have seen the results and it kills and m akes people sick and makes other around them suffer cuz of it .... dont want it around me or my kids
