Pregnant "man" gives birth
Moms View Message Board: The Kitchen Table (Debating Board): Pregnant "man" gives birth
I don't normally start post here and I am sure I won't have anything else to say about it, but I wanted to see what everyone thinks. I personally don't see what the big deal is. This person is a woman, not a man. Plain and simple!
okay there is no article so I am pretty sure this is the one I read about a few months ago. He only changed his gender legal not had the surgery to change everything else just a breast reduction? The article I read wasn't really clear on this.
Pregnant "man" Gives Birth The baby was born 6-29-08.
It makes me mad that they keep saying man gives birth. That person is no more of a man than I am.
And doubly mad when my 7 yo dd sat that staring at it and said "how'd he do that mommy?" and then I have to try and explain it. It was a clip on afternoon tv when I was flipping channels to find something. URGH!
What really bugs me about this is that "he" vaginally gave birth. Well, okay, a man doesn't have a vagina.
I agree with you. The media grabbed on to this silly story and sensationalized it. Even Oprah had her on her show. If this person had had the full surgery; meaning all female parts taken out and male parts made then it would be more of a story to me. Ridiculous....
Agreed 100%... Taking off your breast doesn't make you a MAN. If that is the case, are the women that go through double mastectomies men?? She had all her parts, right where they belonged, to carry that baby. Thus she is no more a man than any of us are. I find nothing amazing about this, surely not a news worthy story in my opinion. I take that back.. I find it amazing the things people will do for money.. Give me a break..
Ditto to all of you! Way over the top sensationalized. I can't believe this kind of story is what makes the news, over and over again.
Hi! I'm not new but I haven't posted for a long time. I visit once in a while. I HAVE to comment on this one though! I agree that this isn't a news worthy story and what really makes me mad is that I had to explain it to my 8 yo ds! Just like IamamommyX4, changing channels and he heard it.
Not worth the time wasted on this. Anyone with sense should not this is not a man. I mean the media ( and the powers that be, whom ever they are)always wnat to make somethign out of nothing to say they are the frist to do this or that. Like Luvn29 said it was a vaginal birth so that in it self should tell these nuckle heads that this is nto a man. Becaue I haven't seen one yet (a male that is) born with one. Whom ever idea it was to first report and follow this story should be fired. And I was more shocked to see Oprah have it on her show. I mean even twith the cold hard facts starring everyone in there face, they where told that she shtill had her original female organs ( basically just living her life as a man) and to look like a man had her breasts reduced. I feel for everyone that has had to explin thsi t there little ones. See it's this kind of stuff that gets under my skin, because I should have the right to choose at my own leisure when and what to talk to my kid about. But because someone got it in there head that they coudl be the first to do something so stupid it put a lot of mom's in that sititution.
I agree with all... I'm barely an "A" cup in bra size, does that make me a man? lol... I'm so thankful that Brendan hasn't seen any of this coverage because it disgusts me.
I've learned not to switch channels on the T.V. during the day while dd is up and about for this reason. We keep it on her preschool channel. I even wait until she's asleep to watch something pre-recorded. The show may be harmless, but the commercials aren't always too great. The tricky part is when dh is home! Of course he wants to watch his shows, but I'm always making sure whatever is on is okay for Lara. We get all the news on the internet, so we don't even go there. Too much garbage like this being aired.
I just want to point out that there people born with both male and female organs. And there are people born with both 2 'X' chromsomes and 1 'Y' chromosome. Though these people are less tham 0.1% of the population, in a world of billions, that means at least hundreds of thousands of such people. In such cases, 'man' and 'woman' are not well-defined or, at least, I don't think that they are. And, of course, people in this position generally lead a tough life of ridicule as a child and dificulty finding a spouse as an adult. I don't know if the peson in question fits in this category, but he/she might.
