Mysteries of Life Survey

Moms View Message Board: The Kitchen Table (Debating Board): Mysteries of Life Survey
By Laurazee on Friday, April 4, 2003 - 12:09 am:

I've always imagined that at some point, perhaps when I die, I'll finally get the answers to some of the mysteries of life. Here are some of the questions that I've always wanted answered:

  1. What happened to Amelia Earhart?
  2. Who killed JFK?
  3. Who killed JonBenet Ramsey?
  4. Was Marilyn Monroe's death really a suicide?
  5. Do aliens really visit our planet in flying saucers?
  6. Did O.J. really kill his wife? (hm, maybe not so much that one)
  7. How about Robert Blake - did he really kill his wife?
  8. Who killed the Black Dahlia (Elizabeth Short - gruesome unsolved murder) in 1947?
  9. What really happened to Jimmy Hoffa?
  10. What happened to Michael Dunahee? (missing child in Victoria, BC, Canada)
You can pretty much put "...and why?" on the ends of all of those questions. I'm sure there are tons more. Anyone else have any to add?

(Sidenote: I have no idea why I was thinking of this tonight, other than Friends mentioned Amelia Earhart tonight. I remember reading about her when I was about 8 or 9 and being frustrated for the first time, wondering "Why don't we know what happened to her?" Back then, I always imagined we'd be able to show up at heaven with our lists and, presto, we'd get answers. I'm not so sure that's true anymore, but I guess I still secretly hope.)

We're so used to getting answers to everything right away. There are some mysteries that may forever remain mysteries, I guess.

Anyway, the purpose of this thread is to ask around and see what other mysteries still drive people nuts...specifically, the mysteries that might not get answered in our lifetime.

(I posted here in the Kitchen Table just in case controversy crops up!)

I don't think I have a whole list but I would love for someone to find Laci Peterson so that her family can have some peace.

I don't think that will happen unless her husband grows a conscience.

By Kaye on Friday, April 4, 2003 - 10:39 pm:

Hmmm, in my Bible study we brought up some questions via Mary and her pregancy. Like what exactly is it like to carry and parent the "perfect child"?

As for your questions, it is interesting mostly to me that with all of our CSI type shows that we still have so many unsolved murders. I think the whole Elizabeth Smart thing was on my list till recently, WOW what a shocker! I just hate the not knowing for families.

Claire you are right, hubby needs to fess up!

By Laurazee on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 - 07:28 pm:

Well, according to CNN, the Laci Peterson mystery *may* have been solved.

Here's another story link. This one has a little more disturbing detail (warning).

http://www.kirotv.com/sh/news/stories/nat-news-211242620030414-180410.html

My guess is that it's more likely Laci's body and her son's body than not. Umbilical cord still attached to the baby? The woman's body appeared to have been recently pregnant? What are the odds?

It's so sad.

By Sunny on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 - 11:38 pm:

I would be very surprised if it isn't Laci and her infant. I only hope whoever it is, they solve the mystery of how she died and who did it. If it is her, it makes the husband look really suspicious because of where the bodies were found. It seems like the investigators have little to go on though.

Whatever they find out, it is still so sad. :(

By Claire on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 - 01:27 pm:

I also think it is Laci and her son :(

I hope they are able to gather enough evidence to convict the person responsible and I still think all the circumstantial evidence points right to Scott.

I just feel so horribly for Laci's family.

By Truestori on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 - 05:29 pm:

I believe it is her also. They found her at the exact place where I walked my dogs since I was a little girl. It is called Point Isabelle and it is basically not that far from the Berkley Marina.
It is so sad to imagine. My heart goes out to her whole family! I hope that once there is a positive ID the family is at peace knowing the baby was found with her.

By Colette on Saturday, April 19, 2003 - 02:09 pm:

Looks like it is probably her. I am glad the husband was arrested, I feel terrible for her family but at least now they know.

Saw this oldie, and couldn't help but wonder.... why have we heard no more about Chondra Levi, and Congressman Gary Condit? and, since that park was searched so thoroughly when she dissappeared, how could they miss her? Was her body put there later? Your thoughts....

By Bellajoe on Monday, August 25, 2003 - 03:38 pm:

If i am not mistaken, the Chondra Levi thing kinda got pushed to the back once the whole September 11th tragedy happened.
I guess i never heard the outcome of that, or i just don't remember. So they DID find her body?

This is the first time i visited this topic ......Looking back at the post about Elizabeth Smart...WOW! It is a miracle they found her after all that time! That is just bizarre, but great! Laci Petersons story was so sad! :( of course i hate to hear of anyone being murdered, but a pregnant woman?! Awful.

By Juli4 on Monday, August 25, 2003 - 10:12 pm:

why not a pregnant woman. The baby isn't a person anyways. Does it really count for two murders?! I guess only when we want it to. huh?

Just something to think about. If the woman was intentionally kilig her child in the womb it would have been "her right", but since someone else did it is horrible. Just think babies are killed all the time and we never think about it, but now we are setting up memorails for an unborn child. OR at least was an unborn child. Or was it a child when it was delivered since it was dead?! I wonder sometimes where our logic comes from. I know laci didn't want her child dead but now all of a sudden it has a right to life!

By Sunny on Monday, August 25, 2003 - 11:17 pm:

Chandra Levy's body was found in a park near or in Washington D.C. in 2002. I don't think they have solved the case or brought any charges against Gary Condit.

The death of Laci Peterson has nothing to do with abortion. There is already a debate topic covering different views on that subject. Why mention it here?

Ditto Yeah...That

By Jtsmom on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 - 10:22 am:

Juli4, I think we have a lot in common. I'm just not as well spoken, so I just listen, but I feel as you on the abortion subject.

By Bea on Thursday, August 28, 2003 - 12:26 am:

Julie, please don't turn every thread here into an abortion debate. Just in case you've lost track....The topic was:

What happened to Amelia Earhart?
Who killed JFK?
Who killed JonBenet Ramsey?
Was Marilyn Monroe's death really a suicide?
Do aliens really visit our planet in flying saucers?
Did O.J. really kill his wife? (hm, maybe not so much that one)
