My uncle
Moms View Message Board: Prayer Requests: My uncle
We got a call on Friday that my uncle, who is 51 years old has been diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma (I'm pretty sure this is correct). He and my aunt are celebrating their first year wedding anniversary next month. They've been together for 15 years and have 13 year old twin girls but just last year made it official. I guess he had a knot in the back of his neck and thought it was some sort of cyst so he didn't go in immediately to have it checked out but in the past couple weeks started feeling bad. The doctor sent him straight to the hospital and they did testing and this was the diagnosis. He goes on Monday for a more extensive biopsy. I believe I have all the information correct, we are in TX and he is MI so we aren't getting it first hand. Prayers for him, my aunt, and their twins would be much appreciated.
Prayers coming their way.. if you don't know much about this you might check out I think it was the lymphoma society or something like that.. I had a friend who was 33 die of lymphoma about a year ago and I can't remember exactly which one she had but I know the lymphoma society really helped her family deal with all that was going on.
so sorry prayers are on the way ...
I'm so sorry to hear this. He will be in my prayers, as will his family. On a positive note, a good friend of mine was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins a few years ago. She went through all of her treatments, including a stem cell transplant, and has been clear since. She went in with the attitude that she was going to win the battle, and she did. I think she's at the 3 or 4 year mark at this point.
They are in my thoughts, and also on another positive note, dh's cousin just went through this and he is clear now.
btw.. they didn't dx my friend until it was already too late. I didn't mean to seem like most don't live through this..
Thanks everyone, it's a day to day thing of tests right now... We will see in a couple days more about what is going on.
Well we didn't get good news... The official diagnosis is stage 4 lung cancer that has spread to his lymph nodes. He starts chemo on Monday. The first diagnosis of the non-hodgkins was what they were "thinking" the stage 4 lung cancer and in his lymp nodes is the official what is going on.
I am so sorry to hear that. I will say prayers for him and your family.
He and all his loved ones are in my thoughts..
Thank you ladies... He had a PET scan on Wednesday to check out the rest of his body but I haven't heard the results on this yet. We did hear that the head scan came back okay so that is a relief. He got a port put in yesterday and started chemo today (7 hours). My aunt said his spirits have gotten better since hearing that the head scan as okay, hopefully the PET scan will bring more good news for him. At first he had the attitude there was nothing they could do but he's turned it around and decided to fight with al he has. Thank you for your continued prayers.
What IS it with non-hodgkins lymphoma?!? I know/have heard of SO many people who have that diagnosis in the last 2 years! Many prayers for him!
Thoughts and Prayers to your Uncle.
My prayers are with your uncle and his family.
